Porsche just tease they new Hypercar

1.webp

Rumors :

- Will use a new Hybrid setup (V8)
- Concept next year
- Production 2029

The future of Porsche will be, more than ever, all about sales revenue margins and less about unit production volumes, IMHO. More personalization, more limited production "Sondermodelle", for example. A compelling halo hypercar could actually fit into that fold. And while not yet a fait accompli per se, the future SSP Sport BEV architecture for the "converged" Panny/Taycan successor will be sourced to Audi for their etron GT successor, which has apparently been greenlighted.

I was hoping for a 918 without the hybrid part and a manual.

But this will do too. Can't wait to see more, finally something tangible!

I am curious about the engine.

NA V10 would be gorgeous.

IMHO, that can probably be categorically dismissed.

But...a most cutting-edge iteration of an ICE/Hybrid could very well be a possibility. Then again, within the timespan of the next 2-3 years, battery/e-motor/audiohaptics development will certainly not be "in recess" and one hell of alot a interesting new things will be presented.

NA V10 would be gorgeous.
As lovely as that may sound, surely it's a bit unrealistic? I mean, ok, Lambo have done NA V12 hybrid with Revuelto but the V12 is the mainstay of the top end of the brand for generations now.

If anything, Porsche ought to pursue a bi-turbo flat-six with 3 electric motors in a GT1-style mid-engined setup. Perfect positioning against F80.

But the Carrera GT is on the way to become the most legendary Porsche Hypercar.

For some, I imagine that will be the case. Walter Röhrl is said to have stated that "the Carrera GT is exhilarating, terrifying and can be lethal in less than highly experienced, competent hands. Absolutely unforgiving".

For me, the 918 holds that title.
I had the opportunity to have a close look at one at an event held on the premises of the Klassikstadt in Frankfurt/M back in 2017. There were two 918's there, one in silver metallic, the other in a glossy black. I was soooo impressed by those cars.

Incidentally, a highly recommended venue for those interested in classic automobiles, vehicle restoration and featuring an assortment of high-performance super-and hypercar vendors. A great place to spend a few hours.
