Cayenne Porsche Launching Diesel Cayenne in 2009

The Porsche Cayenne is a series of automobiles manufactured by Porsche since 2002. It is a luxury crossover SUV, and has been described as both a full-sized and a mid-sized vehicle.
I'm kind of in between what Martin and coolraoul is saying. Yes I see how the Cayenne fits in the family. Although I first thought it was a bad idea at first, the FL makes it look a lot nicer.

Having said that, putting a diesel into a Porsche somewhat crosses the line. If the Cayenne is meant to be a 911 in SUV clothing, that's fine. But no matter how you put it, a diesel engine just isn't mean to be sporty. While we do have some terrific engines by BMW and Audi, it won't match an equivalent petrol engine in sheer performance or enjoyment (imo)... which is what Porsches are about.

And while we are on this subject, I think Audi putting the a diesel engine is pretty revolting. The reason these diesels are so good in races is due to fuel economy. But when you are buying something as emotional as a Porsche, would you really put fuel economy over driving pleasure?

My answer would be no.
