If you are buying a diesel in the next 12 months, make sure the finance comes with a decent minimum guaranteed future value. As more mild and PHEV become more widely available, diesels powered cars with depreciate faster.

On the positive side, punchy 6 and 8 cylinder diesels will be bargains on the used car market in 5 years time.
