This car will be out of control. 570hp out of a 4.6L engine. That's 123hp/litre! 100% all mighty. The car will blow sign posts off the road. Its exhausts look large enough to swallow seagulls, rather Jet Fighter inspired.

Man oh man - it's already a damn special thing!

This versus the new Ferrari hypercar - omg it's 1987 all over again for me! Could these two cars be as special or significant as their 80's forebears?

Don't forget the new Mclaren F1, along with the relatively young Pagini. Petrol heads have never had it so good.

Awesome numbers, but 458 is already there - 562HP from 4.5l. And 4.0l in RS4.0 is already doing 125HP/l. Anyway this vs Enzo vs new Mclaren F1 will be epic indeed - and oh yes - Huarya too.

Pagani? More like rolling art than technological showcase.
New McLaren? As always too much the clinical, niche loner to make for direct comparison.

Nah, this is about Ferrari vs Porsche - the ultimate supercar head-to-head - and as before it's them and them alone. :)

Yeah it's good times in need, a cold war again.

PS. It seems like the wing is the real deal. It's a retractable one.

The article above (looks like it is from autocar) doesn't tell us what we don't know, and the author incorrectly said the vent ahead of the edge of the bonnet is gone. You can clearly see it from certain angles of the car. One other thing I have noticed is the front bumper cut line is moved much high up from the concept.

I wonder if the engine cover is actually connected to the engine with copper stripes or tubing to dissipate heat?

Trying to catch the SLS ;) the headlights doesn't suit to me ;) and i think about the exhaust system in this place...hmm...damn crazy and noizy...

Porsche 918 Spyder to get Race Track package

Porsche 918 Spyder customers will be able to specify a more focused track version of the car. The Race Track package will be sold at a premium price, and come with a stripped-out interior and the option of no paint. The weight saving is reported to be around 30kg.

The target weight for the standard car, which is powered by a race-derived 4.6-litre V8 and two electric motors producing 762bhp and 552lb ft in total, is “less than 1700kg” according to Porsche.
Around 20 per cent of customers are expected to take up the option. In total, 918 cars will be sold, with production due to begin on 18 September 2013. By the time the car goes on sale Porsche estimates that at least 90 per cent of the production run will be sold.

The father of a guy I know has bought one (also has other exotics obviously, including CGT). Will be delivered somewhere in 2013, and the lucky dude has even driven one at a private Porsche track. He drives a 911 Turbo S 918 Spyder Edition right now...

Yes, this edition was made avalible for those who ordered the 918. I can imagine those will get quite expensive in time.

"Less than 1700kg"? I know its a hybrid, have got AWD, but come on. I have got a feeling it might turn out to be quite underwhelming compared to the F70 or the F1s successor, the P12.

How can a 1700 kg 918 Spyder be an improvement over the 1380 kg Carrera GT ? It can't, in the same way as the P12 with a TC 5.0l V8 can't be an improvement over the F1 with its NA 6.1l V12. Quite sad. And the Huayra with FI also is not the ultimate sound, looks like the only game changer might be the F70.

I know the new generation of hyper cars only come around once every decade but can you guys just please wait for a little bit longer before criticising this car? Surely the engineers at Porsche know what they are doing.

Owned by Volkswagen AG, it was founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche.
