where did this thing come from??! no spy pics, no leaked info or pictures and very little rumors.
talk about keeping a concept secret.
Bring it now!

It seems like Porsche is more about doing than saying ;-)

Turbos? Naaa... we all know that is not needed to create efficiency in cars bigger than a Golf.

A 2-seater Porsche Spyder with a 3.4L 500HP V8 which looks like that?

Perfection. Nothing more needs to be said.

where did this come from!?!?!

While not the biggest fan of hybrid on a high-performance car like this, I guess that's where we are heading. I got to commend the brilliance of Porsche's engineers. But a part of me can't help wondering how much weight would be reduced sans electric motors and what the the resulting performance would be like. This is absolute insanity, but the good kind insanity. The very, very good kind.

You have to amaze at how Porsche does everything from high revving NA engines to turbos to SUVs and now getting on hybrid band wagon with out effecting it's core identity and with out any marketing hoopla.

^ Sunny, am glad somebody is impressed by this fact, from such a small manufacturer they mastered almost any category they entered which is truely amazing & impressive.

Cayenne: Came out of nowhere, and is impressive on-road/off-road performer.
Panamera: I hope it continues the tradition, everything seems pointing in that direction.
CGT: Speaks for itself.
911: success story for the lasst 30+ years and delivers different flavours for different types of drivers. from raw NA engines to brutal turbo'd laptime smashing cars.

This is a very impressive package, fantastic design combined with a technologically advanced drive train system. This car will definitely give Ferrari something to think about. My only concern with this concept is the weight issue, at 'below' 1490kg, it is still 110kg heavier than the Carrera GT, and that has a V10 engine. Those motors and batteries+cooling system sure aren't light.

^ if it delivers better performance/ring time/fuel consumption/fun factor, weight is just another random number to me.

I love the side profile! you really see, compared to the so modern R8, that they took it a step forward with the sidelines! Curvy!!

:)

It sure made the R8 look a bit fat and dull... but on the other side, that was bound to happen.

The GT1 is back!!!!!
:usa7uh: Cool Porscha.
&
In general I miss those kind of cars cars, GT1, CLK GTR and such...
I am very happy for all of you Porsche fans outhere this looks
like a new masterpiece ... I just hope it will make it to the production.
:)

I sure Porsche have tested the car without the electric engines and batteries but conceded that the weight gain is worth while.

The way they are speaking in the video suggest to me that they are intending on bringing the car to market, and the fact that they have a video on the way demonstrating the car on the ring shows that unlike concepts from other manufacturers, this one is a fully functioning car.

It's not a conincident that Porsche asre showcasing this car exactly ten years after they exhibited the CGT Concept at the Geneva show of year 2000.

Holy Crap.

Epic. Earth-shattering. Monumental.

Just looking at this and taking into perspective the vociferously bold marketing message I truly hope that this 918 is the landmark vehicle for Porsche it looks to be.

BMW does exactly the same, other than crappy marketing hoopla.
BMW has all these techs available for themselves too. A 1.5 liter 3 cylinder diesel engine with 356 hp in the Vision ED is just as incredible as this thing here.

And Sayyaaf, Porsche is not small. Maybe the don't make as much cars as VW, but they sure were trying to buy them. You're not small if you want to buy one of the biggest companies in the world.

I really love it! :)

But dont you think the rear lights remind of the current Audi rear lights? :)

Not only the rearlights, but the side profile even more so, like you pointed out...

This car is incredible. Not only does it have performance that are out of this world, but the design is stunning. Evolving from Carrera GT but still so new, dynamic and sporty. I am so pleased with this design direction, implementation of lines from some earlier models combined with new technology and shape! Real masterpiece!

Man why do you feel you need to stand up for BMW in every possible thread??? This thread is about Porsche technology and performance, not a comparison between Porsche and others. So please try to let this fanboyism out of such threads, we have enough of that already all over the forum. Thanks! :usa7uh:
