I have spent a lot of time in a A4 Avant 2011 and yeah, I didnt fall in love with the interior at all. The plastics around the MMI screen, is the biggest fail.
To me, Audis less succesful interiors are: A4, A5, Q7
^ Spoken like an Audi connoisseur with experience I'll give you that. Get out of your Q5 and into an A4 and you'll be immediately disappointed. Q5 is far more solid feeling with better surface and switchgear tactility. I've does this exercise countless times. Plastics are flimsy in places, brittle, buttons feel cheap, dashtop feels hollow and insubstantial, the list goes on...
Still though, the new interiors of A1, A3, A6, A7 and A8, are perfections on totally another levels. They really show that Audi steps up even more, in what they already are best at: The interiors.
I take no exception whatsoever to the excellent interiors you mentioned above. Audi sponsors the Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture providing chauffeur-driven park-n-ride services and it's an excellent opportunity to sniff around some lovely cars. A6 and A7 - the latter even more so - impressed me deeply (Human is overly fussy!
