Wow, I know we are supposed to be looking at your car but that scenary is amazing - I've never been to such a place as that - It makes want to visit Nevada now - I think this place is so amazing. Oh and BTW NevadaJack, your Merc looks great too :usa7uh:

Thanks Roberto...that Joshua tree on the right and the others were all burned with the fires we had several months ago. Just think, all this beauty just 30 minutes from the "Strip" and it's free.

Hey Nevada Jack, what Mercedes did you own in the 1970s? I assume it was a US-spec W114 280E or a post-1976 W123 300D / 280E right? :D

My first was a 1977 280E Sedan in that light brown color. I remember saying to my wife when we went over some railroad tracks..."I always wanted a car that didn't feel the bump." It was a joy to drive...straight 6 as I remember. Paid about $16,000 for it. That started the "ride" with MB...my next was a '79 450SL in Maple Yellow with
Camel (?) interior, both tops.

Nice! The W123 is one of my favorite MB's ever. :usa7uh:

The R107 SL's were hotties too. Friend of mine owns this red 280SL 4-speed manual version.

Brings back some memories...I have a pictures somewhere in the boxes of them out in the garage. Don't think I will ever be able to go through them all and scan them to a disk.

I also owned a 1981 380SL and a 1986 or 87 560SL.

I sure hope you aren't referring to the Persian carpets on the floor, mr Jack :D j/k

What madness to put those inside your SL!

Beautiful cars! I hear the 560SL suffered from "scuttle shake", any experiences with that? Supposedly the US-spec versions were quite heavy because of the 5 or 8 mph bumper laws etc. Cool car though! :eusa_danc

A lot of Germans do that for some reason. I've seen those carpets in an E400 CDI as well. Heck, my dad even wanted to put them into our E320. :D

Must be a German thing...

Certainly not a US thing...:-)

A lot of older BMW and MB buyers (not so much Audi) in my experience tend to do this here. Don't know why. :eusa_danc

Haha that carpet thing is quite tasteless.

Hmm, cheapos. :D If you're going to buy an expensive car, then just buy the made to fit accessory factory carpet mats. Sure, they're expensive for what they are (rubber and carpet), but they have mounting holes and are made to fit perfectly.

But they don't have those wacky designs on them which people want! :eusa_doh:  :D

Beautiful! The wooden gear shifter will make it even better :usa7uh:

BTW, what happens to the old steering wheel and later the gear shifter? Do they buy them from you or they just give them back to you and you decide what to do with them?

They put them in the trunk and I put them in the garage cabinet with the 2003 E320 leather wheel...:-) I don't know if there is a market for them or not.

I'll post some new pictures when I get the shifter...should be early next week.

Red Rock Canyon replacement image

Since the earlier images of Red Rock Canyon were lost due to a site crash, here is one I don't think I had posted. Beautiful place.
