Phoenix Rising? (Possibly?)

BMW has so AMAZING ideas and project but they cancel all the nice projects like CS, this California z, GT 4 and many other projects.:eusa_doh::t-crazy2:

Forget about a lame CS. Produce sporty cars instead, like a Audi R8 competitior, M3 CSL, 135tii, a new Z8 and Z4 Coupé. Make impressive cars, not nonsense cars like 5er PAS, X6M.

Build passionate cars.

I think it's completely retarded and reactionary that BMW all of a sudden talks about CS again, because Jaguar has released a new butt-ugly XJ.

CS shouldn't have been cancelled in the first place, but talking about reviving it because of the XJ is just crazy.

Oh c´mon read this klier has said. How can a "simply" BMW fan think in a much more logical way than the entire BMW board?. I don´t see it too complicated to see.

^ lol I guess so. But as Just_me said, right now I'd rather see BMW making some sports cars again. CS was nice when introduced, but now I'd like to see something truly sporty again. CS is stunning, but still a big heavy boat. We have one already, the 7er. With M sportpack it's close enough.
That is, if I would have to choose. Both CS and sporty cars is even better :)

clearly the new XJ has been causing pandamonium amongst BMW's shareholders for them to think of reviving the CS project. Jaguar will be pleased.

IMO, if the CS does suddently get the green light again it will be too late. The panamera, rapide, heck even the estoque and God knows what will be out by then. BMW will simply look like they're jumping on the badwagon. Rather go back to your roots and do what you're known for. Give the wolrd a lightweight sports car that is efficient and exhilirating to look at. Let the current and next generation of BMW owners have something to aspire to other then GT's and trucks.

I kind of covered that in my last post man. The main thing you're missing is that if BMW green lights the CS again, it will still be out before the Esoteque and may be by the time or just a bit after the Rapide since a lot of the engineering work was being done and the car was in development when it was stopped. It's not like they have to start from scratch, they will just pick up where they left off and may be add a few more engineers into the thing to speed up the process. ;)

Wow...all of a sudden...the XJ has made BMW try to bring back or at least ponder bringing back the CS. Right car, wrong time. IMO BMW needs to focus on small cars like the 1 series and X1, as well as cheaper small roadsters. The CS is a stunning automobile, but this just isn't the right time.

It could very well be the exact right time. I think bad times are the best for bringing out the big guns, showing the world that "we can do it, because we want to". Initially, BMW took the stance that extravagance = a thing for later or the past, now, this could be a sign that BMW has changed its priorities. Regardless of the opinion of certain manufacturers, this phenomenon will give us a lot of great cars before the end of this economic slip-slide.

Weird thing is going on with the Project Gran Turismo. Although BMW CEO Mr. Reithofer said in the early November 2008, quote:

Norbert Reithofer said:
"The sharper focus on profitability will result, amongst other things, in product decisions being revisited. As a result, the BMW Group will no longer produce a series version of the Concept CS since this vehicle does not meet the internal requirements for rates of return."

I've been informed in late November 2008 - despite of the official word on cancellation - the project development was alive, and was going on. Slower than planned, but alive. My sources said back then BMW was planning to offer the car under RR brand ... Which in the end was also denied by the Board. And now a more conventional RR coupe based on Ghost will be offered.

But the question is what is really going on with "Project GT". :t-hands:

Since the project is still tagged with "ACTIVE" status. :eusa_thin

BMW are really up to something ... but nobody really doesn't know what's going on. My sources are completely baffled by this GT situation. The incoming info is highly contradictory.

From what I have heard today that there is plans for a premium vehicle based on an existing platform but with unique driving set-up that will focus on the attributes that make the BMW Brand the success it is. It will not be a supersports car like our competitors but it will offer both conventional and hybrid powertrains.

I think it is because of some good news experienced on the sales front , although not outstanding but significant to see that some aspects clouds are parting.

Ian Robertson, Member of the Board of Management of BMW AG, responsible for Sales and Marketing: “There are first indications of a slight recovery on the automobile markets. It remains to be seen whether this trend will be sustained. With 12.7%, the BMW Group saw a much smaller decline in sales volumes in June than in previous months. In the first half of the year we were able to gain market share in the global premium segment, as we had planned. With a decrease of 18% in the second quarter, we also performed better than in the first, where sales were down about 21%.”
MINI even managed to grow by 45.5% in Germany in June (4,363 / prev.yr. 2,998), achieving its highest ever monthly sales figure. In the year to the end of June the BMW Group sold 136,770 (prev.yr. 149,970 / -8.8%) units in Germany.

The MINI Speedster has been announced internally that the car body will be built by another outside contractor and definitley not Magna who will be producing the MINI Cross-Over. Designed entirely in Munich and based on the existing R57 MINI cabrio Platform the Speedster is entirely cost effective mechanically with extra budget attatched to the design of the small car.
To further it's intentions as a small sports car the MINI Speedster will only be available as Cooper S although a John Cooper Works model will also be available. Engineering changes will include a wider front and rear track - The Speedster has bulging wheel arches , there is a lowered suspension but front wheel drive remains to keep the familar MINI Go-Kart handling.

Surprisingly the car in weight terms is kept low to allow the MINI Speedster to be nimble , dynamic and quick weight is just over a 1000kg.

so is karmann the producer of the mini speedster ?
at least thats the only oem which would make sense(to me)

Don't get too excited. Please remember this is the old Scott talking (I think, and surely that's the same as having two handles which is forbidden?)

I'll believe it when I see it. :usa7uh:

This is a different Scott, the writing styles are different.
But I understand what you mean.

Maybe BMW is thinking of to bring the 8er series back.the desifn of the CS with just 2 doorf a cl ehhhmmm s-coupe competitor. Why do i think that :Dbecause the 6er Gt will be the competitor of the a7 panamera and so on.
BRING THE 8 series BACK (and he z8 i have sit today in a alpina z8 roadster, thats a DAMN nice car ):bowdown:

The 6GT could be a great competitor for the A7, Panny, CLS and so on as long as they do make it a 4 door coupe and not anything like the 5GT.

BMW's "creative marketing" is just trying to steal the XJ's thunder with more vaporware. Forget it, it's hot air. The XJ is here in the metal.

A bmw image builder.

That s no heavy truck.

That s nimble car which can be easily turned into a trackday/racecar So the race tracks are also filled with bmw s in the future like we see now.

I was on race trackday 90 % of the race cars there were bmw. The only way to keep it that way is that make sporty road cars which can easily build into a track car.

For instance a 130i hatch. This car can be made lightweight to 1100kg with roll cage and ca. 280hp with orginal ecu. 3.0i engine is a good base.

But even beter were. M treatment for this car. Priced way under the M3 and there you have new icon which wil appear lots on trackdays like the E36 m3 you see now.

We drove 3 years with 130i cup cars in dutch racing series. NOT 1 not even one bmw 130i broke down engine wise. Don t get it why bmw M has not done anything with 3.0i engine. Fantastic engine. Put it to 8000 rpm and 310hp and you have a winner.

Bmw stands for saloon racing. oldtimes DTM etc. They should stop putting money in F1.

Tourenwagen rennen dass ist BMW!!!!!!!!!!

BMW is for me racing heritage. I have bmw E90 M3 and a 130i with drexler diff. Those are the 2 only cars at bmw which can raise my heartbeat that s why i am a bmw costumer.

Bring on lightweight high rev ///M screamers and be spending my money again.

Heavy trucks X5M X6M CS 7 serie s m package etc. than i rather shop elsewere when i am in the market for those kind of cars.

BMW should stick at their roots and give us pleasure machines which we can enjoy when we start the engine and drive like our hair is on fire. A car which look like normaal saloon or hatch. But when open the throttle you heart start pumping. That s why i drive BMW.

PS the E90 M3 is heavy bitch but the engine is one of the best. Only lightweight 3.0i high rev atmo could bring me back.

Think about the F1 involvement. They have spent, what, probably close to a billion euros if you factor in the money they paid Peter Sauber. What for? To develop technologies that are too expensive and out of place when it comes to proper road cars? To develop cars like the CS? Didn't they learn ANYTHING from the failure of the 8 series? Or the ridiculously expensive dynamically inept, subframe separating Z8?

They always think that they are right...Last January they were confident that they could go for the F1 title. They lobbied to keep the KERS, they were the last ones to scrap it and they have become the biggest joke in recent F1 history. Has anybody lost their job as a result? No

They should have a look at how porsche allocates money to motorsport. And pls stop this on going bullshit argumentation that bmw is a maker of luxury sedans not sportcars. If the company built sportscars do they seriously believe that this would confuse or dilute the brands image?
Where on earth did they earn their marketing degrees?

Geez! I am so happy to hear that I am not the only one!!!

I must admit that I never thought of even going there....to speak my mind on BMW's sick investment in F1. Why? So they can compete with their Swabian neighbor? BMW does not compete with Mercedes-Benz in my eyes on any level, they cater for different needs etc. Actually I can go on and on and on and on.......

Point is:'Start investing the F1 motorsport money in developing new and inspirational products your customers can relate to BMW AG!!!!!!!!!!!!'

I want to start a petition against BMW's participation in a F1 motorsport which in turn is turning into a CIRCUS! Sick!
