Phoenix Rising? (Possibly?)

What the hell does that mean? Sustainable, like forever? Sustainable is a lofty goal?

This is absolute nonsense and from the R&D Chiefs' mouth no less. It's bad enough when CM spew this crap.

What a sad day for BMW.:t-banghea

Marketing terms buddy, marketing terms. ;)

VW,Audi,Porsche,Lamborghini,Seat.......VS. BMW,Rolls-Royce and Mini :eusa_thin:eusa_thin:eusa_thin
very very interesting, who will be the winner ???? I think and i hope BMW will be the winner, but when more people dont see that a Audi is nothing better than a VW . They pay 10 thousend euros more for a "pimped" Volkswagen :t-banghea

quote=SCOTT27;399288]Now that Porsche has lost it's Independence it is up to BMW to take on that mantle and their engineers.

BMW has to be sustainable to remain Independent and that is the new strategy. Although BMW are reluctant to follow other manufacturers leads what BMW will do is something entirely different from it's core competitors , Sustainability is more than just the technology that will be found in unique vehicle concepts but sustainability will also be evident in our product growth , The 3er product range will be added with an additional 3er Gran Turismo model and another idea in design phase is the return of the 3er Compact but as a smaller Shooting
brake type car.

The portfolio that will provide more sustainability to the BMW Group will be the range of models developed underneath the 1er Platform. Aimed fully at the growth that will be expected with the compact segment from which BMW will have a range of Sporting compact cars in many variants and guises aimed at the customers who would be in the market for these cars.[/quote]

So sustainable as in BMW's survival? I reiterate, what a lofty goal.

How about thriving, brand diversification coupled with legacy class-leading performance to ensure long term profitability?

I would think you talented CM folk could put a better spin on this.;)

The photo is an old rendering of a Z2...we used it as a leading photo.

And yes, our source confirmed what Guido said also...Z Vision Concept at IAA, won't reveal more and it's understandable.

Truth is that he said 2 new cars/concepts to be introduced, but again..secrecy...

Dr. Reithofer's words (BMW CEO):

Sportiness and dynamics remain the key attributes of all BMW models, albeit paired with responsibility.

At the IAA, we will showcase a concept car as a“CO2 champion” to demonstrate a whole new dimension of driving pleasure with regards to efficiency with performance.

In line with our Strategy Number ONE, we are continually reviewing all projects and initiatives to check them for future viability and sustainability.
We made this clear with the initial announcement of our Strategy Number ONE. And, naturally, this also includes motor sports.
And I have always been clear about my position on making tough decisions that will help ensure the BMW Group’s success over the long run.
As our company places stronger focus on sustainability initiatives, our participation in Formula One becomes less a key promoter of this engagement.
It goes without saying that this step was very difficult for us—as well as for me personally.

On behalf of the entire Board of Management, I would like to express our immense gratitude to Mario Theissen for his commitment and successes.
Everyone knows that the BMW brand embodies sportiness with sheer driving pleasure. Sportiness and fair competition are firmly encoded in our DNA.
This is why we will remain loyal to motor sports. But we will do this in series that enable us to transfer technology more directly and to realize additional synergies, while strengthening our brand values. This is in our customers’ best interest.
As a company, we are making a paradigm shift based on our Strategy Number ONE. We are setting new priorities in an ever-changing environment.

The focus of the BMW Group will be towards sustainable development
over the next years and decades to come.

Our vision remains clear: to be the leading provider of premium products and premium services for individual mobility. We will pursue this vision with resolve.

:t-cheers:

As said in one of my posts few days ago: decision making process is VERY dynamic this days at BMW. Very risky decisions are being considered & made. How will the future look like? The trend is towards sustainability ... in every fields. Being eco-friendly (green), human-friendly (healthy & safe), having purpose & responsibility.

Therefore BMW decided to go with this trend. As a company, an as a brand (incl. MINI & RR). Sustainability is now the key word.

Yes, every brand will still retain the core values ... but within the sustainability frame.

It's more a marketing move to reposition the brands in crowded premium segment: BMW will now promot the company & the brands as "premium & sustainable". The ultimate sustainability machine / company / brand(s).

When "Auto Union" become tobe the number one "premium" brand then they have won and BMW lost. But i think BMW will still the number one.

Scott (t) said the Autobild render look exactly as the Concept, so Will this car provide some new design cues to the rest of the BMW line up?.

BMW will do what they best whilst VAG will continue to over saturate the market with cars that are rivaling each other.
Now throw Porsche into the mix and the currently in development new modular platform being developed for apply manufacturer here.....

When "Auto Union" become tobe the number one "premium" brand then they have won and BMW lost. But i think BMW will still the number one.

But you make it sound like it's some big battle with an ultimate conclusion, only one car manufacturer left. BMW's aim is to operate at a profit and provide a return for their shareholders and investors. If they become or remain number one at anything then it's a bonus.

sorry if it have sound like a big battle:D but i want that BMW kick auto union`s ass becouse they are arrogant:D

The focus of the BMW Group will be towards sustainable development over the next years and decades to come.

Now is the time for this, now that the trucks are out and, hopefully, their replacements (if any) will be smaller, lighter and capable of achieving at least 10l/100 km.

It is a bit sad that BMW now officially have ditched its old strive towards sportiness.

I was thinking that too. Just because they are going towards Sustainable Efficiency doesn't mean they can't make their cars fun.

Maybe I was pulling it a bit too far, but reading between the lines lead to that conclusion. I felt that now they are focusing on efficient premium vehicles.

We will see. But from now on, I think it will be green before sporty and also comfort before sporty. They will, however, still say that there is a sporty "DNA" (I hate that marketing BS) in each and every vehicle, but that is only valid as long as it is accompanied by a "for what it is".

Well considering that all manufacturers are going green and comfortable, I think BMW will still be sportier than MB and AUDI. The sportiness, that youths love, is what BMW brand is all about. I guess you can read between the lines but I think you might be reading too far. In all honesty if BMW is not sportier than AUDI or MB than all the die hard BMW fans are going to have to eat their words about calling MB and old person's car, etc.
