What's up guys! Quite a while since i last posted on the forum... Now its been a lot in the mean time... Now i got to test drive the 208 which i loved and was undisputed as my option to be my first car for the last month and few weeks. Tho, now, this new Up! TSI thing showed up with 134hp on the dino and superb fuel efficiency when compared to the 208, bringing me onto a dilemma once again.
The 208 is a proper car for me, tho with the performance and efficiency in the Up! is pretty impossible to ignore it, specially for the 10k price difference....
This sounds simple for non car people, but i understand it as a true headache! I cant decide between performance and economy on the Up!,which would be obvious car guy choice, and the gizmos and beauty of the 208 (Not to say the 208 isnt fun to drive, its just that the Up! Is considerably faster and more agile considering it has 951kg and 134hp!)
"You are no car guy if u consider choosing comfort and plushiness over performance!" said a friend, what i have to say is: Ok, the Up! is a mini hot hatch, tho it is extremely small! And not very appealing to me, specially after this hot girl friend of mine told me she finds the Up! ugly as f**k! I also have to admit i kinda giggle when i see an Up! next to a 208 because the 208 makes it look like a german twizy, a samba bus shaped twizy... I know in europe the Up! is respected as a legit city car, tho in brazil it honestly is a reason to laugh simply for its size, and im affraid that actually bothers me...
Some people told me the 208 is also too girly of a car for me, and i honestly dont give a flyin f**k because its the best car i've ever been in in the price range! So it all comes down to this...
Which way would you go considering these impressions? (Note these are my own impressions, feel free to give your own perspective if you dont agree with the attributes below)
>VW Up! TSI:
+Best performance overall
+Better fuel economy
+Well rated on the NCAP
+More reliable
+Turbocharged
- Interior space for rear occupants
- Very simple interior, almost spartan if it wasnt for that german aspect...
- Not very appealing design and dimensions, looks like a toy!
- 15 inch wheels with pretty slim tires
- Popular car, meaning it is extremely basic in every aspect (equipments specially)
>Peugeot 208
+Looks extremely sleek
+Loads of equipments, it even has a panoramic glass roof!!!
+16 inch wheels
+Interior is superb for the money, specially being able to choose the color of the leather seats if equiped
+/- Adequate interior space, it is just not huge, fits 4 people perfectly
+/- Performance is good, falls behind the Up! tho...
- Fuel economy is not the best
- Peugeot service sucks
- Repairs are expensive
- Depreciation is considerable
So there you have it, one more dilemma i ask you guys to help me with!
Now i have listed repair prices and depreciation on the peugeot as a bad spot since they are indeed high, tho i kinda dont mind it that much... Its just that i couldnt think of other bad spots honestly...
Here are some reference images that represent closely how i would spec both cars...
208 exterior exactly how it would look like if its the one i'll buy:
Vw Up! exterior, now this is not a TSI, just he regular one, but the TSI looks just like it and thats more or less how i would spec it, just not sure about the black double stripes on the roof and hood...
208 interior, only difference here is that i would equip mocha/chacolate leather seats
Up! Interior, looks exactly how it would be if i choose it.
Anyway, im gonna shut up and see what you guys have to say, if u got something to say, that is...
Edit: Guys, i know the 208 and the Up! are not in the same class! The prices are also very distant! And thats part of what causes the dilemma! The Up! costs 50k while the 208 costs 62k!
