Maybach 57/62 (W240/V240) Paris 2006: Maybach 57 S in a Shining White Livery Revealed

The Maybach 57 (W240) and 62 (V240) were the first automobile models of the Maybach brand since its revival by DaimlerChrysler AG (now Mercedes-Benz Group AG). The concept car and production models were based on the Mercedes-Benz W140 S-Class. Both models had an "S" (Spezial) option, and additional Landaulet version for the 62 S. Production: April 2002 – February 2013, 3,321 produced.
Last time I saw anything about the SLR's sales they were like at 1000 units so far which to me is on track if they want to sell 3500 over 7 years, but everyone still says that it is a slower seller. Some dealers here have an SLR for months and months though before it sells and I guess at 450K a pop that is how it goes for sports car that doesn't wear a Ferrari or Porsche badge.

You know Marcus, I am seldom so uncertain about something as I have been about the Maybach. I criticize it ...despise it, and then I see a video like THIS ...and suddenly I'm in love with it.

Check out Chris's video too

57S vs S65

And while we're at it, here's a video of the CL

I'd had seen the latter 2 videos, but never the promotional 57S video. Yes the car does make quite an impression when you see it in motion and hear it going around a track. I've long decided the only Maybach in my fantasy garage is the 57S, the others are not even close.

I've never been a fan of the Maybach. It's classy and good-looking but I think cars of this type are simply to excessive.

If I was really wealthy, an S-Class would be enough for me.

Nevertheless, the Maybach looks pretty sexy in white. :usa7uh:

LOL ...I don't know a lot about astrology Chris ...but I read my horoscope from the newspaper each day for fun. You are a Leo, and that should mean that you are a person who loves bold and grand statements :D -- The Maybach should be perfect for you. ;)

Haha :D

I don't really believe in Horoscopic predictions. In fact, I have not read one of those since I was maybe 7 or 8 years old. :eusa_danc

LOL ...Artist you fit the Leo profile very well ;)

I don't really believe them either Chris ....I just read mine for fun.

It's not just the SLR Marcus, aparently.

I've recently chated with someone who works at a MB dealership, and he told me that the C55 AMG isn't flying of the selves either.

He said that this (re)positioning of the C55 to younger/sport-minded buyers doesn't seem to be working, at least in his area, since such people pick M3s or S4s/RS4s.

Now I know the C55 was a great improvement, and here I'm just the messanger.

I guess MB has a deficit in the sport(y)/driving dynamics area.

I only read my horoscope once, when I was really little. Since what it said about me wasn't true, I never read them again. :t-cheers:

LOL ....Yeah, I used to listen to them on the radio when I was very young ...my mother and I have the same sign ...so I thought that was pretty cool when I was 5.

Leo is a good sign though Chris ...apparently you have a strong personality with excellent leadership skills.

My Chinese sign is the OX and my Greek zodiac sign is Aries ...and when I read them in the magazines or newspaper, they are never correct. :)

Yeah the C55 has always been seriously in the M3 and S4/RS4's shadow. It is being pulled from the U.S. market for 2007. My guess would be most Benz buyers don't see the point of a small sedan that sporty, they want an E or SL AMG model and of course since the C55 can't match the M3/RS4/S4 on a track those buyers don't shop it either - your guess would be right on this one.

Also ....as much as we love MB, the truly cool models are seriously expensive luxury cars, often perceived to be for older people. S4/RS4 and M3, are cars that young people identify with, they have a more youthful and less elitist image than the C55. One problem for the C55 could be the number of elderly people you see driving C classes (as a retirement gift to themselves) ....it's just not cool to be driving the same car your grandmother drives.

Just came across these interesting press pics of some individualised interior wellendorff gold and diamond finishing elements which I for one haven't seen before on the Maybach..it does look extremely posh and look at the craftsmanship..things which can't be matched by the current Maybach S.

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
