Official Thread [Official] Toyota FT-1 Concept

Looks promising, but hopefully the final production car (if there is one) won't be completely changed like the FT-86 (?) did.

Looks a lot like a TVR Sagaris from behind which is a great thing!
Would be a dream car. I guess that's the BMW/Toyota thingy which really makes perfect sense since it has roadster proportions(ready to be a BMW), probably an I6 behind the front axle and is RWD :)
We have a winner if that's really it.

This sounds like a design proposal from an independent firm, not the collaboration car/s between Toyota and BMW.

Stunning nonetheless!

This is being said to be the Supra successor.

Clearly in this video, it seems to be taking a lot from the LFA and with a Toyota badge on it. Even the 8000 rpm redline is a nice revelation.

Something in the design screams Viper/SLS AMG to me.

If this is not the result of cooperation for a "sportcar" which will?
Something even more radical?

What other car could it be? Unless the Toyota Mirai concept will be a different car (I thought Mirai was this car). That is the only plausible BMW/Toyota collaboration left.

This isn't what I was expecting. I thought we will see the a further evolution of the first concept car, not a complete redesign. Everything is good except for the blunt front end, which reminds me of this.

Is this going to be Corvette money or 911 money if it gets built? A real Supra replacement should be like 370Z money right? Reality is that it will likely be GT-R money.

Surely this can't be more expensive than the Lexus RC-F

The 911 competitor will be a Lexus and I think it will be LF-LC, which also has been approved for production . All indications say, the Lexus LFA will be moving up to hypercar level (full carbon fiber platform without any aluminum and the 5.3 Liter V10 being tested at the Nurburgring 24-hours race this year). Tanahashi has confirmed he is working on LFA 2 in a recent interview.

The BMW/Toyota platform collaboration sports car will be placed below this car and would be cheaper. This Supra successor car will be the halo Toyota that will be most likely similarly priced to Lexus RC-F.

I would like to think so, and hopefully it will be. In concept form it does look like a premium sports car, but I'm sure the production version will be watered down.

Remember the FT86 Concept? It was hard to believe that it would cost Mazda MX-5 money.

I like it a lot. Suddenly this way out Toyota-Lexus design language is finding its place in this world. Who would've thought...

It's funny how without the information of weight I'm unconvinced by the design. If on the one hand it's RX-8 like in it's design being dictated by a taut stretching over the mounting points, then it makes sense. But if this is a hulking viper like mass then I'm not happy with the edges.

Good direction in total though. It is nice to see Toyota's idea of what their collaboration with BMW could look like. Look forward to FT2.
