M5 [Official] The new BMW M5 CS

The BMW M5 is a high-performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The first M5 model was hand-built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis with a modified engine from the M1 that made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production (1995 to 1998, 2023 to 2024). Official website: BMW M
I've spent the whole day looking at these available pics and videos of this car and i still can't get enough of it. Honestly, as 20+ years as 5 series owner, i really can't remember which car excited me this much as the this CS.... From inside to outside in every possible way... It's just marvelous! Of course, i'd have my wheels in silver and car in Tanzanite blue and i'm the happies man in the world... :D

My daughter is 18 yo and my son is 15 now and when they saw the car and pics/vids, they've both told me: "we see you driving one... ;) Go for it, dad..." :ylsuper:

Well, kids' word is the last one... :D Kidding, but it's definitely my next car. M550i did what it needed, it's time to raise the bar to the max when 5 series is concerned. :)

Do it! Who gives a f, you live once.
Also do not forget leather M cap it’s a must. And racing gloves, puma race shoes.
Destination ... closest Lidl.

I'm with you on that one. Michelin's seem to offer a slight performance advantage over their Pirelli counterparts. Perhaps they are the other OEM tyres?

I think you and @Centurion both missed, that the M5 CS is equipped with the Pirelli PZero Corsa tyres! Not the vanilla PZero like the M5 and M5 Competition ...?

This car is just nuts! I don't know how you see it ... but at the time the F90 M5 got revealed, I instantly thought, what a great successor to the F10 M5, to which I never warmed up to! Sure, it had RWD and DCT, but it wasn't nowhere the complete package as the F90 surely is!

Then soon after the F90 release the Competition showed its brutal performance and just some months ago the LCI hit the nail in the looks department again.
And what had the F10 M5 to offer? F10 M5 30 Jahre, pffft ... forget it! Undriveable. Added power just turned into tyre smoke. Neither in wet, nor in the dry on track or B roads the F10 M5 could hold a candle against the hyper composed F90. I heared some rumours in the automotive industry, that the competition was really concerned as they analyzed the F90 because of its outstanding drivetrain (engine, awd and transmission composition) ...

Looking back in M5 history for me the F90 even outshines the E39 M5!

Now this CS interpretation is the crown! As the first rumours came up, I first though, what a weird idea doing a CS for the 5 series ... but now looking at the result, it just feels so right!

No, I got that. I'm referring to the Michelin Cup 2's - can't remember if they are Cup 2 R's - that AMG has fitted as track/competition tyres to the GT 63 S. In my opinion they are a step above the Corsa's. But in this day and age, it is likely the CS was developed with Corsa's in mind so Cup 2's aren't available out the factory.

@PanterroR

My colourvision is terrible, so have a generic blue-ish photoshop with silver-ish accents and wheels...

In this report, BMW USA states M5 CS is 230lbs (104kg) lighter than M5 Competition, is this an error or BMW really made CS version 104kg lighter, not 70kg lighter as stated?

I really like the yellow icons it's a really nice touch. Let's see all BMWs wearing the CS badge get these from here on out.

F90 Competition had a 7:35 in sport auto supertest. I expect Christian Gebhardt doing a sub 7:30 in an upcoming supertest. BMW M test driver Jörg Weidinger could do a low 7:20.
If we compare what Gebhardt did with CS versions of M4 and M2, the difference was 10 and 9 seconds faster laptime on Nurburgring compared to standard versions.

I cannot wait to see real life pics, and different colors...I dislike matte, but even in matte it's touching my heart. What a car.

This option would have been awesome... unfortunately it won't exist out of the factory. I still think the green one looks good though (only one I would go for).

Individual Manufaktur baby. People paying this kind of money of this sort of car don't care about another 10k for an Individual color right?

My colourvision is terrible

No kidding! That's purple!

Seriously though, stop it with this amazing photoshops. My dick car only get this hard!

That's better. A few articles that I read just mentioned P Zero.

They really missed a trick by not offering a "normal" colour option. I can envision the odd M5 CS wrapping their car in a nice metallic colour.

BMW M

BMW M GmbH, formerly known as BMW Motorsport GmbH, is a subsidiary of BMW AG that manufactures high-performance luxury cars. BMW M ("M" for "motorsport") was initially created to facilitate BMW's racing program, which was very successful in the 1960s and 1970s. As time passed, BMW M began to supplement BMW's vehicle portfolio with specially modified higher trim models, for which they are now most known by the general public. These M-badged cars traditionally include modified engines, transmissions, suspensions, interior trims, aerodynamics, and exterior modifications to set them apart from their counterparts. All M models are tested and tuned at BMW's private facility at the Nürburgring racing circuit in Germany.
