Strange thing is... that it (A8) was not available to configure online with the V8 Tdi, yet the engine was actually available.

The V8 diesel was in the configurator. But only a very short time before it was discontinued again.

A8 can’t be configured in the German Audi configurator for a few days now. Facelift might be imminent?
PS if it will be available with a V8 Diesel engine it would be a very, very interesting proposition for me.

Stricter emission regulations(Starting from 2021) killed it. Audi wasn´t willing to update it.

Seems like this car is going to be around for 10 years. So I would say first upate in 2022 makes sense. With the second probably in 2025.

Not sure who is going to buy this car in 2-3 years, though.

S8 is good looking indeed. But I need a diesel. If I wanted a petrol S 580 would be my choice.

I thought you were a little underwhelmed by the new S? I for one do like it; although the interior does take a little getting used to.

I am underwhelmed by the W223, that’s true. But what’s the alternative? An A8 with V8 diesel would be an interesting alternative: V8, 4.0 litre, 900 Nm torque… ? There is no 6 cylinder that can do that.

You guys get shafted in Europe. I’d suggest an S6 - petrol but you guys don’t get it.. it’s a fun-ish cruiser and has all the fun fun gubbins like rear wheel steer and it drives so much better than the standard A6.

Yes, I did. BMW have no V8 diesels, as you know. As far as my experience goes, their R6 Diesels are just as good as MB’s.

Mick, don't waste your time. Once used to a S class no other car could satisfy you anymore (except Bentley maybe). Whatever else you'd take you will regret.

I remember you were thinking about something bit more sportier than S (a while back) - and 400d in CLS should be a bit quicker as well.

Yes there is, BMWs quad turbo I6. Well maybe not quite 900 Nm. But that's discontinued too, lol

They all hold no candle to BEV though.

Quite frankly, I think the CLS is too expensive for what it offers.
