Clamshell design is ok, but for me personally a hood shutline like this one is the most perfect version:

Ja, cute, but... Showing a concept car is misleading as the shutlines (for a bonnet for example) aren't necessarily those for an opening & closing door or body panel.

Take note (if you're so inclined) once more about the accuracy-of-fit of Audi's clamshell bonnet (hood) design and how beautifully it integrates with the sharper, more prominent sin-wave swage line. If still unimpressed then have a look at this image:

The sharpness of the surfacing continues on the bonnet where the creases are particularly bold and prominent. And, if the headlights do come across as conservative in shape, at least appreciate the bonnet shutline intersecting with the apex of the outer headlight corner. It's a pleasingly Germanic detail so typical of their penchant for smart, succinct style.

I think VAG has made a huge improvement with their manufacturing techniques, they have already achieved this level of accuracy and intricacy with the clamshell bonnet of the Skoda Superb. It is very similar to what Audi has done with the A5.

Jip, just look at how far things have progressed since the A1 whose clamshell bonnet is decidedly heavy-handed.

What as mess, what a mess. They are trying to mask the horrible proportions by tons of makeup and tricks but that acheives zero fluidity.
