GT (C192) [Official] The all-new Mercedes-AMG GT Coupé

The Mercedes-AMG GT (C192) is the second generation 2-door sports cars produced by Mercedes-AMG. Production: 2023- Model years: 2024-
For the official press release, see The New Mercedes-AMG GT 43 Coupé
This engine is capable of alot more power than 639PS but AMG and Mercedes are effected by the cutdown on fuel and emissions requirements so the move to hybridization.

Started to drive my AMG GT and its so much more fun than powerful heavy cars which are good for straight line acceleration but when you hit mountain roads the fun ends (except the Taycan, that drives very well despite the weight).

My question is why Mercedes can't develop a true AMG GT V8 hybrid at 1.8t like the SF90. So much weight in such small car is pointless to me.

Some spec comparisons, looks like the weight of the GT63 SE is 2195kg (225kg heavier than the GT55 and GT63)

They probably will develop a lighter version at some point, once they've had more use of the MSA platform.
Some variant with no back seats and a roll cage and is more stripped out etc. more carbon fibre.
But we'll see I guess.

Im happy to confirm my AMG GT-R has been the most reliable car I have ever owned and its had 0 failures.

Remapped to 700hp and the gearbox mapped.

And just had mercedes change all 8 spark plugs for £580
How is the tyre wear? rapid?

six cylinder?

It’s a knockout in person. Beautiful.

I also find it absolutely stunning. It is quite amazing how the GT's wider stance makes the appearance of it's SL droptop sibling pale in comparision. Not that the SL is not attractive, of course. It is, very much so. I have big hopes for the upcoming future AMG.EA-based vehicles (the GT 4 door and SUV/Crossover) and am intrigued by the prospect of AMG and Porsche clashing swords.

I agree, completely. It totally outclassed the SL next to it, but in fairness the SL was a SL43 with pitiful little wheels.

Glad to hear you first hand re-count. Does it appear small and lithe or large and muscular? How would you compare it's presence to a 911?

They land here in September. I'm so tempted to flick the 911 for one as I could probably get 95% of my money back having done 15,000km. But will I regret it?

@Monster, @Merc1 @martinbo @Centurion @sako97, @Big Sam, @Mick Briesgau and others, please weigh in with some thoughts. Biggest car purchase regret to date was buying the M850i GC instead of the S580 Coupe. Don't want to do that again! LOL.

Has anyone sat in one yet? I'm curious about the seating position compared to the SL, which was not as low slung has I was hoping.

Step one is to write down what you want from your next car. IMO recent supercars and GTs are very expensive but not necessarily superior to an equivalent car launched 3-7 years. Few cars are perfect, most are a compromise.

The AMG GT could feel like a best of both world car, but it could also feel vague e.g not agile/exciting enough or not a better/convenient daily than a GLE63.

I would:
-Test drive the new AMG GT
-Test drive 3-5 other sports cars, GTs and performance SUVs
-Test drive the AMG GT a second time

Refrain from ordering it blindlY

Just curious...

Should the purchasing price be a subordinate factor, would you consider the new Aston Martin DB12 ?

Well to me, both the GT and 911 are good sized cars now, I'd say they're about the same. I don't know the exact dimensions of either, but I wouldn't describe the GT as small and lithe, but it isn't a S Coupe type vehicle either. I haven't sat it in one yet. I'd say you gotta drive them both extensively.

The 992 Carreras are actually a little bit shorter as well as far narrower than the AMG GT.

Hi M,

My thoughts here:

Using purely my head I wouldnt purchase any of them. Lose too much value.

Wait for the special editions.

Or if you must spend buy nearly new db12 or brand new vantage.

Or go further upmarket and buy a special edition of something that holds value as long as you dont load it up with lots of miles
