So as the new Audi A3 (Mk3) and the coming VW Golf (Mk7), the new Seat Leon (Mk3) is based on the new MQB platform.

So they abandoned the soft design of the latest Seat's for the angular one of the new Ibiza. I can't say I am a fan of this, but Seats tend to have very good value for money. I would prefer a Skoda over a Seat, though.

Seems tidy enough - the rear is reminiscent of the Alfa Brera and the front headlamp graphic evokes Audi in some ways. Sadly, as long as Skoda is around SEAT remains the "pointless" brand in VW's stable.

And a reason to read funny dialogs between Piech and Marchionne :D

If VAG purchases Alfa Romeo it would be placed against with Audi/Porsche and be more premium/exclusive, not Seat/Skoda. Audi would get more luxury to rival Mercedes, Alfa more sporty against BMW. At least taht is what I'd do if I was CEO. BMW used to be called the "german Alfa Roemo". Look what Alfa is today ? Worse than Seat !

Not the most exciting design, but neat and tidy enough. I certainly prefer it over both the Korean/Japanese competitors and the previous Leon.

The interior dissapoints slightly but I quess this was the price that had to paid in order to get a touch screen display (unlike audi a3) close enough to the driver and the display as high up as possible.

However compared to the navi unit fitted to Golf's and Passat's this one certainly looks kind of odd the screen apperas much smaller than in comparable Golf unit.

Torsion beam suspension for the new Leon (with exception of versions with more than 150 bhp which will get real multi link set up) also the car will not be fitted with magnetic adjustable suspension.

Good info, MarcinM. Seems to be a standard practice on the new MQB platform eh? Unconfirmed statements abound of new gen Audi A3 following the same practice with torsion beam rear axle on lesser models.

Speaking of the A3, I think that it won't be sold with torsion beam rear suspension in Europe, as I only read about the torsion beam one in the US press release.

:)

You put Audi emblems on & it won't be hard to believe. Looks really good, IMO. Glad to see VW putting (needy) effort in Seat.

Seat Leon X-Perience 4DRIVE

Boasts an increased ride height
Following an announcement made at the end of last year, Seat has introduced a more rugged version of the Leon ST called "X-Perience."

This new Leon ST derivative brings a +15mm increased ride height and additional plastic body cladding to create a more rugged appearance also enhanced by the front and rear aluminum underbody protection. It comes with black anodized roof rails and can be equipped with 17- or 18-inch unique alloy wheels while the side profile shows beefier door sills.

On the inside it can receive brown leather and Alcantara upholstery with orange contrast stitching while lesser models feature a fabric finish. There are also some special badges and a large 587-liter trunk that can be expanded to 1470 liters if you fold down the rear seats.

Offered with permanent all-wheel drive (with fifth-gen Haldex coupling), the Seat Leon X-Perience can be had with a 1.8 TSI delivering 180 PS (132 kW) and 280 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque. On the diesel side, the vehicle is available with a 1.6 TDI rated at 110 PS (81 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) along with a 2.0 TDI outputting 150 PS (110 kW) & 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) and 184 PS (135 kW) & 380 Nm (280 lb-ft). These engines can work with either a standard six-speed manual or an optional DSG.

The Seat Leon X-Perience will be publicly unveiled in October at the Paris Motor Show, with sales to commence shortly thereafter.
