Just like Wraith has already been. Eg. in 2014 Wratih sales accounted for almost 50% of all Rolls-Royce global sales! It was like 1900+ Wraiths out of 4000+ all RRs. Impressive for a sports model, and a non-entry model.

The DropHead will add more sales. Although the car has not even be revealed the first series of production already have deposits from those that have had an exclusive preview of the car.

What do you mean with non-entry model. Wraith is the entry model coupe.

Rolls-Royce Dawn officially announced, goes on sale early next year

Rolls-Royce has officially announced the Wraith Drophead Coupe will be called the Dawn when it goes on sale early next year.

Described as an "exciting and sensuous drophead," the convertible is essentially a soft-top version of the Wraith. As a result, it will likely feature a twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine that produces 632 PS (624 bhp / 465 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. This enables the Wraith to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 4.6 seconds, so expect the Dawn to be slightly slower.

In a statement, Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes said “[The] Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one’s senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots.”

A wraith is a ghost or a specter, which is and sounds bad-ass. Dawn, on the other hand, not so much. "Dawn" sounds like a librarian, but not the hot kind...actually, now that I think about it......

If you read the announcement you can see how logical it is by explanation.
You rise in the morning , the sun is high in the sky the temperature rising you need to go into the city you drop the hood and venture on to the PCH and drive in the best environment and weather possible.
The feeling of a new day.

Oh, I got that's what the marketing folks were getting at but it's, as @SDNR has pointed out, boring. And I get it that there's history to it as well. But you have names like "Phantom," "Ghost," and "Wraith" in your line-up and then you add "Dawn." Which name seems like it doesn't belong? "Dawn" is just so innocuous.

Well the coolest names in the business streak just ended. Phantom, Ghost, Wraith.....Dawn? Ehh no.

Do elaborate for those not from the "olde country," such as myself...

Well, it's just regarded as a bit of a naff name (apologies to anybody called Dawn). A bit like calling a car "Colin" (again, apologies to anybody called Colin). If you imagine somebody called Dawn, you don't think of someone like Monica Bellucci. You think of Monica Lewinsky.

Ah, the brand new Rolls Royce Neville. Or how about Nigel? What about an Aussie special edition - the Rolls Royce Sheila.

When you rock up at the local Country Club in your new drop-top Roller to then be greeted by the concierge, only one word's required. "Morning."

Why are you so fixated of "Dawn" as a name? I didn't know this word and it was necessary to use a dictionary but what I have found is proper to Scotts explanation.
Dawn like dusk, twilight or dim. With the difference "dusk" means the "Dämmerung" in the evening and "dawn" in the morning.
The native english speaker knows this. But for the rest is this maybe new and interesting.
:)

actually, Dämmerung is a beautiful German word .....for me it evokes lieder by Richard Strauss.
