Wraith [Official] Rolls-Royce Wraith

The Rolls-Royce Wraith is a full-size ultra-luxury car/grand tourer manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars and based on the chassis of the Rolls-Royce Ghost sedan which is also shared with the Rolls-Royce Dawn convertible. The Wraith shares its nameplate with the 1938 model by the original Rolls-Royce company. The body style is a two-door pillar-less coupe with suicide doors, where all side windows can roll down like in a convertible. This body style was popular in American cars during the 1950s and 1960s, and was known as the hardtop body style, not used by Rolls-Royce since 1955.
Why are you so fixated of "Dawn" as a name? I didn't know this word and it was necessary to use a dictionary but what I have found is proper to Scotts explanation.
Dawn like dusk, twilight or dim. With the difference "dusk" means the "Dämmerung" in the evening and "dawn" in the morning.
The native english speaker knows this. But for the rest is this maybe new and interesting.
:)

Dawn does indeed mean what you say.

But the first thing I thought of was the girl's name, and that's not a good thing.

Corniche & Camargue trademarks are now being reserved for a possible roadster (former), and a possible 2-seater coupe (latter). Exotic names for exotic models. If greenlighted. Customers want such cars, so... But what BMW AG still lacks is a proper platform for a big roadster & 2-seater coupe. At least the one developed together with Toyota is modular, also suitable for sports cars way above Z4.

Well, it's just regarded as a bit of a naff name (apologies to anybody called Dawn). A bit like calling a car "Colin" (again, apologies to anybody called Colin). If you imagine somebody called Dawn, you don't think of someone like Monica Bellucci. You think of Monica Lewinsky.

Jesus that's messed up, son. Get a grip.

I like the name. I don't have any weird associations with it.

Just one small comparison - my good ol' friend's @Merc1 MB CLK class was named Ursla and the car served him well and right for years long, so i'd say that i don't give a flyin' f what the car is being named as long as the car serves me right! :D

Of course, Rolls Royce Joanna doesn't sound right, but with a Dawn name i have absolutely no problems and i really don't understand few pages of discussion about it.

Let's look forward to the car and not to it's name.

In the grand scheme of things, it's not a big deal because it's not like i am going to run up to a Rolls dealer and pick me up one of their cars.

But....

The idea is they should want me to fantasize about it. Names like Ghost or Phantom evokes this feeling that's both of grandeur and also sends a slight chill down your spine. There's a sense of drama. I just don't get that with "Dawn." Initially, when I heard "Dawn" I did not automatically think of person's name (Though, I did a few minutes later), I did think of time before sunrise, which is beautiful. But it's too "cheery," it's like something you'd name a Nissan sub-compact. I know it's nit-picking, but with a Roller, it's that whole package, moniker included.

BTW, I do think the car itself will be quite nice (How could it not be? They all have been brilliant), especially as I prefer the Ghost line over the Phantoms.

Rolls-Royce Dawn to launch in 2016

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today announced the name of its forthcoming new car. The new model, an exciting and sensuous drophead, will be known as Rolls-Royce Dawn.

The car was unveiled to representatives of the marque’s 130-strong global dealer network at the 2015 Rolls-Royce World Dealer Conference in Los Angeles, California today.

“Our new Rolls-Royce Dawn promises a striking, seductive encounter like no other Rolls-Royce to date,” said Torsten Mueller-Oetvoes, Chief Executive Officer. “Dawn is a beautiful new open-top motor car with a name that suggests the fresh opportunities that every new day holds – an awakening, an opening up of one’s senses and a burst of sunshine. It will be the most social of super-luxury motor cars for those beautiful people who wish to bathe in the sunlight of the world’s social hotspots.”

1952 ROLLS-ROYCE SILVER DAWN

Rolls-Royce Dawn is the next step in the renaissance of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars which began in 2003 with the launch of Phantom and subsequent introductions of Ghost and Wraith. It justifies the continuing investment of the BMW Group into the world’s pinnacle super-luxury brand.

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn will revive another famous and rare Rolls-Royce name first used in 1949, but only ever applied to 28 very special drophead bodies between 1950 and 1954. A new beginning for Rolls-Royce at the time, the original Silver Dawn was the first Rolls-Royce to be offered with a factory-built body. The drophead Rolls-Royces that carried the name Dawn continued to be coach-built for individual customers, ensuring their uniqueness and rarity.

‘Dawn’ perfectly expresses the character of the new Rolls-Royce. In its tentative, inchoate, anticipatory state, dawn is the world coming to light from the ethereal dark of the night. The early-day chill of dawn provides an erotic tingle on the skin, awakening the senses and passions as the day begins. Like Eleanor Thornton, thought by many to be the inspiration behind the Spirit of Ecstasy, the Rolls-Royce Dawn will also prove itself to be the muse that leads its owner to believe that at the start of the day, anything is possible.

The new Rolls-Royce Dawn is beguilingly visceral. It excites both men and women – they want it, they need it and they want to immerse themselves in it. It is languid and beautiful, fresh and fragrant and awakens the passion of your life.

New life, new possibilities, fresh horizons – a tingling, anticipatory ambience in the air – all signified by a new Dawn.

Rolls-Royce Dawn will launch during the first quarter of 2016.
