^:wideyed:. GPS aided transmission is already on a production car?? I was under the impression it was still some way off.

BMW started talking about it last year and now the technology is finally making is debut in the RR. I wonder if this will make any noticeable difference in the driving experience, or another technical overkill.

^ What do you think yourself?

Of course there are benefits. Less shifting and more economy.
I think BMW has it on certain cars already. Not 100% sure.

I didn't know automatic gearboxes were only manually shifted.

To prove the benefit we need a real 500 km test of normal and GPS-controlled cars.

The interior is underwhelming for me as far as the dash.

It's about the experience and the fine hand crafted detail. Here two 42" LED display sreens or inboard SONY games cosole in front of the driver is regarded as devils brew.:pompous: You know.

If it works as advertised, yes I can see some big advantages. Problem with current automatics is that it is reactionary (vs a manual where a driver can see ahead and put the car in the right gear proactively). This can fix that (if it works and that is a big 'if'). Having said that would I want it on a sports car, absolutely not. But I can already see next 992 GT3 with GPS aided PDK. After that comes GPS aided braking and throttle... and next steering :(.

OT: Levi, I'm a bit confused - why did you dislike my previous post (#203)? Did you find it offensive?

I do not dislike your post. I dislike the video. To much talk, as usually in latest BMW videos. Images don't lie, words do. If there is need for words, there is lie, aka marketing.
