@mc4: I have no idea about the price. Haven't even asked ever. It's way off my radar, so ... It's safe to say it will be at least couple of 10k higher then Ghost. I guess somewhere near the Ghost EWB area ...

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today publishes the third official image of its new model Wraith, which will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show on 5 March 2013.

The newest model in the pinnacle car maker’s range features a luxurious, contemporary interior to complement the dynamic poise of its exterior styling. Luxury and hand-craftsmanship work in harmony, thanks to the inclusion of softest ‘Phantom-grade’ leathers and expanses of open pore wood named Canadel Panelling.

This contemporary finish presents an interior space that hints at the interior of an ultra-luxury yacht. The horseshoe sweep of Wraith’s cabin also echoes the cove at Le Canadel in the South of France where Sir Henry Royce and his design team spent their winters.

Every possible interior detail has been carefully considered – and beautifully executed. The clock, for example, is presented with Blood Orange needle tips that point to the car’s dynamic potential, while paying homage to the marque’s aviation heritage.

Like every Rolls-Royce, Wraith is entirely built by hand. The skill of craftsmen and women at the Home of Rolls-Royce in Goodwood is evident in every delicate stitch and each carefully book-matched veneer.

Initially they are planning a Roadster around the Ghost and one above the Phantom. Was shocked as anything as they announced the Phantom will not be the ceiling for the RR brand. The V16 is a possibility due to the positioning of the next Phantom and its more raked back but every bit majestic exterior looks. A V16 RR Phantom would shift the goalposts considerably for such a prestigious car.
The Roadsters are designed to evoke the classic intimate RR.

An SUV crossover is still highly speculative at the current time with such a concept not finding favour with many key BMW personnel due to the fact that although there is demand for such a concept many do not want the RR brand to become a patische of itself , many are more positive on a BMW X7 Luxo-SAV to fill that gap.

I can't believe we're reading about such plans in this day and time, shocking is the right word. A V16 Phantom and/or roadster? Ridiculous. This will put Rolls Royce above anything else on wheels, clearly. If they do this you can expect VAG to counter with that uglish W16 bug sedan thing.

ROLLS-ROYCE WRAITH: THE FASTBACK

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars today confirms that its new model Wraith will be a fastback, and has issued the final image, in the series of teaser images, before Wraith’s launch in Geneva. This illustrates the three lines that underscore the car’s striking profile.

Giles Taylor, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Design Director explains:

"The purposeful fastback profile is Wraith’s defining element.

Inherent in the graceful line that sweeps from the top of the screen to the very rear edge is the promise of fast, yet effortless touring. Yet, perhaps my favourite aspect is the expressive gesture that comes from the side window graphic, gliding through Wraith’s glamorous coach door.

It works with a strong sense of linear purpose from the shoulder line, which has the promise of potential like the athlete in the starting blocks. In contrast, the line that cuts through the shoulder line is a little more artful and adds that certain air of effortlessness to Wraith’s dynamic statement.

In my view the most successful designs always come down to three or four lines."

Yes, it's a fastback ...
But nothing like eg 5er GT or 3er GT ...
It's a fastback ala Bentley Conti GT ... Mighty but still sleek enough.
