I loved those controls back then, and still do when going on those very rare sunny afternoon trips with my '03 745i. Not very practical, but kinda cool and very unique.
For me it's the long bonnet, stretched passenger compartment and short rear deck. It's very "Titanic".Royale.....
The uncluttered, straight lined profile is just sublime like no other car.
Sounds about right. But as always someone very lucky and fortunate will get their car(s) for Christmas before everyone else. So, Start of Production in early January 2018? Any confirmation?
BTW, how "new" is the new V12? They've made it sound it's new from the ground-up.
Scott (or anybody else), do you know if the Phantom will have the option of a panorama roof?
Was wondering the same thing after seeing that roof picture. Part of me thinks it would be somewhat inappropriate given the ambiance everything about this car seems to be trying to create.
The Starlight roof makes a panorama roof not necessary.
I don't believe its standard though.
Having given this one a tiny bit of thought, I'm going to guess that the engine in the VIII is the N74 V12 (N74B67). It's all-new for the Phantom, as that had the N73B67 before... but the Ghost/Dawn/Wraith already have the N74.. albeit in a smaller displacement (N74B66)... so the B67 is all-new for the N74 family too...
.. just a guess.

Makes sense. I guess the increase in displacement would be so there'd be more torque available on the lower-end, thus contributing to less NVH?
Whilst this is probably technically true.... The new Phantom is the new flagship... it was never going to get a smaller engine, and it was never going to get an older engine (whilst we're using pure ICE anyway...)
ha ha ...trueWhen you have a tungsten frieze in gallery and a solid mahogany picnic set in the boot, you will need all the displacement BMW can give you.
