Beautiful 911.

Ah, jeez, another Instagram account that'll rob me of my time on earth. Between this and @ptsrs (which I haven't visited in sometime), these are going to be collossal time-wasters for me. Not good. :D

I shall check these matters up close and personal on Sunday. Test driving it, I will report back.

I'm waiting for a very detailed ride quality review: wind noise, road noise, how well it's ironing the small bumps, throttle response, etc.

In a sports car like 911, I don't expect Panamera like interior quality but a solid feel of panels and a good ride quality.

Alright so here we go.
I drove the car for a good hour and them some on Sunday.

First thing i noticed when pulling away is that the engine is super loud, feels like there is nearly no isolation between the cabin and the engine. ( this was at cold start ).
Pulling away it felt like it has some inertia to it, as if you lay off the throttle and it will come to a halt ( not true, but a feeling)
Right off the bat you notice the road noise, its pretty noise inside, not in a bad way, but you can just hear everything.
Mind you the Swedish roads are not yet totally gravel free for the spring season.

So starting off in Normal mode, it feels solid, fast and comfortable enough. The engine and gearbox is really dialed down. It almost feels disappointing pace wise.

Switching to sport it comes alive, now it feels like the previous gen 911, very smooth and sporty at the same time.

Pulling out on the highway and changing to Sport plus giving it all through a long left hander, and OMG!!!! it just f#cking put its claws down in the tarmac and went, and it went like a damn relentless freight train.
It is INSANELY quick. I mean it is tunnel vision quick. And it does not let off, the PDK and the engine and the grip together makes for an experience that is electric car like. The car has NO CHILL in this mode, none at all.

Further along the highway in Normal mode, but pressing the sports response for those 20s of magic for over taking was just insane, I was going around 70kph floored it and within 15ish seconds i saw 180kph flash by.. Thats were i decided to call it a day, i want to keep my licens.

Regarding martinbo's comments on the interior i agree with the following:
1. Door handle is rock hard
2. Door bin cover is a bit softer material if i remember correctly.
3. Cup holder is a piece of shit.

I do not agree with the following
1. The instrument screen does not bother me being naked around the corners i kind of like it.
2. Did not find anything off with the portion above the glove box, felt solid to me.
3. Air vents are good enough, not brilliant but good enough.

Forgot to check the tunnel , i was busy enjoying the drive.

All in all.

Positives:
* Insanely fast and a jack of many trades ( its honestly to fast for public roads )
* Grip, transmission, engine and chassi are fused together like never experienced before.
* It is stunning to look at

Negatives:
* Spartan interior ( it needs some light colors and proper options )
* Road noise is a killer in the long run
* Normal mode is to soft ( but this is not a proper point as you can set up an individual setting to your liking)

Bare in mind when reading this, i own a Panamera, i am a big sedan guy. I have never owned a Porsche 911 or Boxster or Cayman.. so im very much biased towards luxury and comfort.
Bare also in mind the road conditions in Sweden these days with much gravel.

PS
Oh i almost forgot i picked up a friend and he got to drive it.
Now he tried the Launch Control and so did i later on.. and my god it is just to much..
This dudes left eyelid shut under the G's hahah, he couldn't keep his left eye open.. He thought he had a stroke.

This business of transferring power from engine to the ground is something the 911 does like NOTHING else in the world. Despite all the power there is ZERO loss of traction.

Im gonna drive it again next weekend, a family member might be in to buy one.. so if you guys have any requests please let me know and ile do a deep dive.

Pictures and videos in the next post.

@LaArtist, great review. Please share more thoughts on engine and exhaust sound (if possible as compared to 991.2 Carrera S). Jealous that you got to drive one. They haven't made it to the dealers in the US yet.

Bummer about the road noise. If I were to purchase a 911 I'd want it to be my daily driver and the road noise stops me every time.

To put things in perspective, the road noise in the 991.2 is very acceptable for a Sport/ GT road car. In 7th gear the engine is very muted and most of it comes from wind and the wide tires. Road surface matters the most: on good asphalt it's pretty quiet, however on those concrete surfaces it becomes jarring. Some reviews have suggested improved cabin isolation from tire/wind noise in the 992 as compared to the 991. I'd definitely like to get my hands on a 992 for a test drive that's for sure.

Do what I did on my AMG GT and add more soundproofing. I sprayed a lot of rubber on wheel weels which are very thin like a cheap piece of plastic then I've added some MLV in the trunk, under the seats, etc. Overall I've managed to make it quieter but noise still bothers me at high speeds.

I want to add more materials but I'm lazy to tear it apart again.

I think all sports cars have the same noise problem. I wonder if supercars like Huracan/488/720 are even worst in this case.
