911 (992) [Official] Porsche 911 (992 Series)

The Porsche 992 is the eighth generation of the Porsche 911. Predecessor: Porsche 911 (991). Production: 2018–
I have seen the colour in person. It's more subtle than the above images portray. It's almost a blend of silver, grey and light green.

I finally saw my first one in real life yesterday. I'm quite satisfied with the design. Even the third brake light didn't bother me at all!

:D

GT3 y’all

GT3 looks clean as f#ck!

Can't wait!

Also, that's not a leak as it's from Porsche's own new YT vid "The Heist"

44 seconds in the video you see the car. So intentional. A subtle tease :D

^^
Harry doesn't seem 100% won over by it. I share his sentiment. There are better daily drivers and more exciting sports cars to buy.

However the Carrera S is a car that will bore or annoy fewer people than the majority of GTs or sportscar.

It has a rightful place on this earth. Call it the Golf GTI for the financially successful.

I have very little issue with the exterior; it's a well evolved, distinctive, iconic design. I have no issues with the powertrain; performance and handling dynamics are tops, and for a turbo'ed engine, it still sounds good and decently mechanical. Overall tech looks good without being overly intrusive nor do I feel the need to have a computer science background to operate it. It just seems like it's a car you can get in and go on Day 1. I have very little issues with the interior design, save for the center console blandness and the silly mini-shav...I mean, mini-shifter. I do hate that thing, it's such blight.

What I found disappointing is what feels like a regression in perceived quality in that the interior panels lack that robust feel. Though it may have been done in the interest of weight-savings. And perhaps, I am being too tough but from a modern Porsche, I would expect that kind of quality.

That said, if I was in the blessed position to finally get my first high-end sports car, the 911 would still be my first choice. The 911 has too much history (personal and otherwise) to be ignored and I doubt I'll consider the grass is greener versus if, for instance, I'd get a C8 Corvette (as impressed as I am with it) or some other nameplate. As much as I would probably enjoy driving a C8, I'd still look at a 911 with some longing that has been built up since my late teen years.

All that said, I haven't watched the video yet and am very much looking to see Metcalfe's take on the new icon. I feel he's one of those guys whose opinion you could take to the bank. I'll check it out once I have a quiet moment to myself.

That GTS ticks all the right boxes for me. As of late Porsche has differed in the way the GTS moniker adds to the car. For example in the newest 718 the GTS now uses a detuned engine from the GT4 series. In the Panamera, Cayennes and Macan, they use a detuned Turbo engine. I still think in the 992, they will up-tune the Carrera S engine, however I'm eager to know if that'll be the case!

Yeah, the smart money's on a bumped turbo-six from the Carrera rather than a detuned, naturally aspirated 9A2 4.0. I wonder if we'll see a 992 911 R...

The Touring, which has a been a smash hit ended the 911R’s raison d’être, so I doubt they’ll bring it back.

Speculators were acting like idiots when the 911R first came out. Ended immediately when the Touring debuted.

I don't see the point of an R if the regular GT3 comes with a 6 speed? Opt for the wing delete, get yourself a manual gearbox and you have a 992 'R'.
Basically, the R became redundant when Porsche decided to offer the manual in more cars...

Those rear rims are sublime. They'd look great on ANY modern Porsche methinks.

They're fantastic looking indeed.

The spokes look crazy thin! I would worry that deep pot holes would dent or crack them.

That's an optical illusion. Have a good look; you'll see the spokes only visually extend to the end, as there's a thick rim around them in which they extend....
