Manufacturers need to stop waiting for auto shows to release their products. Makes no sense in this day and age.

yeah was my other thought, they might just release it, like they did with the GT4..
But now would be the time, or they have to weight after the IAA window. Unless they want to go all out at IAA with the taycan and the 992 turbo..

Even GT4 they were waiting for close to Goodwood before releasing. I understand the car was ready long back. Other way, do Apple style - have a special day for yourself and only you and release all your products for that year and create a big splash. Much better dedicated press coverage. Think that is where we will end up.

And BMW have already started the ball rolling with the NextGen event they hosted a few weeks ago in Munich.

^Yea sort of... but I had one in my mind where they would actually present cars/services they would offer that year, not maybe in 2023. ;)

992 Porsche 911 Turbo reportedly coming with over 580 horsepower

the 992 generation, and this means we'll soon see new versions of favorites like the Turbo and GT3.

The new Turbo is expected first out of the gate, with a launch date likely pegged for later this year, and once again there will be both coupe and convertible body styles.

The powertrain will be a twin-turbocharged flat-6, as is the case for the car's predecessors, and it will be mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel-drive system. Power should be up compared to the outgoing Turbo, which is rated at 540 horsepower, and according to Car and Driver the power will even be up compared to the outgoing Turbo S, which is rated at 580 hp. This suggests the new Turbo could come with close to 600 hp.

So where would that leave the next Turbo S? This model should come with a 40-hp advantage, matching the same jump in power between the outgoing Turbo and Turbo S, so something around the 640-hp mark.
However, we've heard that the Turbo S will eventually be electrified to the tune of 700 hp, though this isn't expected to happen until the updated 992.2 is introduced around 2023. Yes, Porsche is working on a hybrid 911 and the Turbo S is a good starting point. It fits with Porsche’s top-down strategy for electrification, which has seen a hybrid powertrain used for the range-topping Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid.

Stay tuned.

I think the 0-200km/h time for the Turbo S will be insane. Not close to the Veyron time but insane.

See if you can spot what makes them look different from the more powerful Carrera S versions.

Eight months after the debut of the 2020 Porsche 911 Carrera S, the German brand now unveils the standard 911 Carrera and Carrera Cabriolet ahead of deliveries beginning in early 2020. They pack a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo flat-six engine making 379 horsepower (283 kilowatts) and 331 pound-feet (449 Newton-meters) of torque that routes through an eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox. For comparison, the more potent S variant offers 443 hp (330 kW) and 390 lb-ft (529 Newton-meters) of torque.

The lower amount of power doesn't take much away from the 911 Carrera's performance. The hardtop requires 4.0 seconds to reach 60 miles per hour (96 kilometers per hour). Adding the optional Sport Chrono Package takes the figure down to 3.8 seconds. To put the figures up against the rear-drive Carrera S, the more potent model requires 3.5 seconds to hit 60 mph or 3.3 seconds with the Sport Chrono Package.

The new Carrera models come standard with lots of tech. The features include Porsche Active Suspension Management adaptive dampers with Normal and Sport modes. The brakes have a Wet mode that detects a wet road and tweaks the stability control and anti-lock brake system for the conditions.

The options list includes features the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes and staggered 20- and 21-inch wheels that come straight off the Carrera S.

Prices for the 911 Carrera start at $98,750 after the mandatory $1,350 destination fee. The 911 Carrera Cabriolet goes for $111,550. To put those numbers in perspective, a base rear-drive, hardtop Carrera S would set you back $114,650 and the Carrera S Cabriolet goes for $134,750.
