A4/S4/RS4 [Official] New Audi A4 Official Thread

The Audi A4 is a line of luxury compact executive cars produced by Audi. Production: 1994-2025. Predecessor: Audi 80. Successor: Audi A5 (B10).
Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

I honestly don't see how some members feel that the B8 is no more then a A5 with 2 more doors!

Because it is! With (as i've already stated) ctrl + c and then ctrl + v interior from an A5. Don't get me wrong, that actually ain't a bad thing since A/S5 is beautiful inside out, plus, 3er's both coupe & sedan interiors are more or less the same. ;)

Point is that noone can deny the quality and good looks of Audi cars, but the fact is, they're looking more and more like clones, with every new generation of each car. And as far as i know we're all into progress of cars and new ideas/innovations, in both design and technology, and not just a constant car make-up... Right?;) Their line-up already looks too much alike and some progress in that field is definitely needed.

Again, overall, Audi could have done much better job than they did with this car, design doesn't matter that much...:t-drive: But rest does...

7/10 for now...;)

:t-cheers:

S5 all day! I need to see the S and RS4 variants to make a final dicision on this new model.;)

I gotta say, both the A5(especially with s-line) and S5 are hot.

Look at this.

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

After looking at the new pics that Richboy posted...I'll still stick to my original opinion. This car is still a rehash of the current one. I'm not saying that this car looks bad, rather that AUDI is becoming very lazy with their designs.

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

IMO the people that say that it looks too much like the current model are those that have never really cared for Audi enough to study the design lines and the characteristics of each model.
I believe that the new A4 is very different from the old one. Small overhangs , longer wheelbase, longer , wider. When you see the B8 and B7 next to each other you will know what i mean.:usa7uh:

Now where i can order one?:D

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

What do you guys think about this picture from mspaint that I did myself. You think it would be a good a4 rear? (just the lights)

All I did was flip the a5 headlights on it's vertical axis.

Or perhaps, those who have studied the designs can understand the fact that just because you change the front/rear track, width and few other things doesn't mean that you've made a huge design change.

I don't want to bring in other cars into this thread but can you say that the amount of changes that were made in this (visually) are the same as the amount of changes made in the C-klasse or 3er? I'm speaking strictly from design standpoint and not technical. :usa7uh:

I'll agree with you and say that to say that this car is exactly the same as the current one would be false, but anyone who says that it's a HUGE difference from the current one is a straight up fanboy. No offense.

The B8 is different from the B7 but still have quite noticeably similarities which is out biggest problem. If you look at BMW and MB, more or less every single car in the line up has it's own unique look and identity. I'm not going to go as far as to day that all Audis look the same but they are heavily similar. We want more variety and individualism throughout the range.

But deep down in side I know that you can understand some of our disappointment.

Maybe that's why Audi is the world's fastest growing prime cars manufacturer ;)

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

Interesting...this post was from another forum

"... it may sound awkward, but our B7's exterior design is actually based on this new B8 model. Hence the strong similarity. Let me explain....

When Audi changed the look of their entire model lineup in 2005 to incorporate the single frame grill, the A4 was given the most drastic make-over. Audi's top-selling B6 A4 was going to get intense competition from the newly designed BMW 3 series and needed to stay fresh.

Audi needed a drastically updated A4 to compete with BMW, but was instead right smack in the middle of its life span. A totally new A4 based on the MLP platform was already in the final stages of design, but was nevertheless 4 years away from production. Sketches were approved by this point, so the new design was floating around.

To stay competitive, and refresh its most important car, Audi took the next generation A4 design and incorporated as much of its look into the current model as it could within cost limits. This was a business decision which I'm sure Walter De Silva wasn't too happy with.

Although still based on the B6 platform, Audi called the facelift a B7. The revised sheet metal, new engines, and improved suspension was enough in Audi's eyes to justify a new B designation.

What we got was a nice preview of what the next generation A4 would look like years ahead of release through the face lift.

The strange truth is this: the B7 takes much of its revised looks from the B8, and not the other way around."

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

^sure i buy that..
but isnt this like entering a evil down going spiral..
now that they released it..this way..they will have to do the same thing again in 3 years.. and piss mr De silva off..
is that what we all want?

Unless this is an official statement, it doesn't hold any weight. Plus, in order for them to implement a drastic facelift like they did, they would've had to test everything for months. This dude is saying that they figured out what next design was and back-engineered the design to put it out as the B7? That sounds like BS to me.

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

I've newer quite seen it like this.

Very interesting point of view though. Possible.

So Audi must match Mercedes and BMW's design changes in order to impress you? I felt that BMW took the idenity away from the M3 and decided to make a mini 6-Series, a few agreed that the likeness was uncanny, but most said I was a hater. We see what we want to see some times!:usa7uh:

Just because everyone jumps out of the plane without a parachute doesn't make it a good idea. AUDI is growing because they have entered into new markets that their competitors have been late entering into and the fact that they have been putting out quality products, not ground breaking products. :t-cheers:

Not hating on AUDI, just hate it when people justify something with the sales figures. People jump on the latest fads, doesn't mean it will hold forever.

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

Nothing much to do with design.

Growth is a consequence of entering new markets, and introducing new models.

Just like MB did grow rapidly few years ago, and BMW as well few years after. We have seen >10% yearly growth by BMW & MB as well.

Mind that introduction of Q7 had a huge impact on Audi sales since this model alone accounts approx 10% of all Audi sales. It will be the same case with Q5 & A1. Therefore Audi will grow at least 10% per year in the next 2 years as well.

Also China market is very important for Audi growth - leading MB & BMW by a huge margin due to having larger production capacities there & marketing advantages (due being "the earliest player in the game").

Audi did an excellent move: they were offering high quality cabins when BMW & MB cost-cutting left consequences in their cabins (less premium materials + fit & finish). That gave Audi quite an advantage. And of course the troubles BMW & MB had with electronics (7er, E-class) also did help Audi.

Audi is quite a danger for BMW & MB. Why? Because they can afford spending more on high quality, because they can save money in R&D & purchasing & production (due being part of Volkswagen Group). BMW & MB have higher R&D & purchasing costs than Audi do. Same case with Lexus - having Toyota as a parent company lowers R&D, purchasing & production costs. Not to mention logistics and other secondary matters.

I still don't see the 6-Series in the M3. Perhaps you can point it out to me. It's not "we see what we want to see sometimes", hell if that was the case I would be praising AUDI for "such a drastic change" over the B7. But I'm not.

I'm not loyal to any car company. I go based off of strictly design, technology and refinement. The only car I'm loyal to is the M3. Besides the grill, the badge and the fact that they're both coupes, I don't see a similarity between the M3 and the 6er, but lets not bring other cars into this.

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

looks nice , just nice! but why is the interior exactly the same like the A5 interior? audi gone lazy with this

Re: FIRST OFFICIAL PIC!!! The new AUDI A4

But deep down in side I know that you can understand some of your disappointment.

I can't be dissapointed about a car that i haven't seen IRL yet.

Furthermore i have heard all this blah blah about A5 being bland ect. in the past but now most people and journalists seems to think otherwise.

Audi AG is a German automotive manufacturer of luxury vehicles headquartered in Ingolstadt, Bavaria, Germany. A subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, the company’s origins date back to the early 20th century and the initial enterprises (Horch and the Audiwerke) founded by engineer August Horch (1868–1951). Two other manufacturers (DKW and Wanderer) also contributed to the foundation of Auto Union in 1932. The modern Audi era began in the 1960s, when Volkswagen acquired Auto Union from Daimler-Benz, and merged it with NSU Motorenwerke in 1969.
