S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Maybach S600 (X222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
THIS should be the true NEW MAYBACH! The U-Class (u for über).

So that does mean that, the Maybach range will have split exhaust, no matter whether its V12 or V8 or even V6???

Good question, but I'm not sure. I'd wait for the final product. Show cars/prototypes are often misleading.

The extra length added to the S-Class body work actually suits the car and it looks very elegant with the extra chrome work on the greenhouse, I especially like the B-pillar and C-pillar design changes. The W220 S600 style wheels look great in chrome, very noble looking. I wish they could have done something different to the front grill and front bumper to distinguish it more from the regular S600, but otherwise exterior is what I expected.

The interior with those extra pillows in the back seat must be mega comfortable!

My feelings exactly. A bolder grille would have been the perfect thing, but as is it is a solid effort IMO. It is going to sell, long as the price is right, about 200K in the U.S. market. No sticker shock there since the S65 AMG is in the same price range already.

This is a great car, but not necessarily as a result of the "Maybach Package", but because the base W222 S Klasse is such a great car to begin with. As far as I can tell, the Maybach is no different than a LWB S class with a designo interior.

IMO, Mercedes Benz has accepted defeat in the Uber premium segment and left it solely to Rolls Royce. The single biggest paradox of this car, is that it represents the zenith of what Mercedes Benz is capable of in terms of exclusivity, yet it shares the same face and tail as a mainstream C class. It doesn't matter how many Maybach badges get plastered across this vehicle, the average Joe may not be able to tell them apart. This is a problem that neither Bentley nor Rolls Royce will face.

While I agree that this isn't a "real" Maybach and that S-Class XL might have been more fitting...
Let's be honest here... isn't that a prime example of why we adore German cars?
I LOVE the wheels, window frame trim and of course the interior!
The Maybach interior trim panels are splendid. It's one of the things I adore about the 57s/62s and am more than glad to see it reappear with this car.
The S-Class XL has the GRAND appeal of the W140 and there's definitely some 57s in it too. I love it!

The standard wheel looks the same with S65, the magnificent wheel might be exclusively as option for S600, I'd say this wheel is absolutely domineering despite it's not my favor. I guess there would be a ultimate version on the top of current S600 like the prior 57s and 62s. Bentley flying spur and Rolls-Royce Ghost, you'd better watch out.

Apart from the horrible and huge dashboard screen, the interior is stellar, in fact it looks a billion time better than the old maybach one. But those merc rimes, erk. I remember some of them on some old benzes that looked like them and i always hated them. Not sure about the extra new glass between the C and D pillar. It<s rounded in a typical limousine fashion but i think it should have been more edgy to matches the rest of the car.

hmm, we'll maybe it doesn't matter if "the average Joe" can tell them apart. Rolls and Bentley do have the advantage of being stand-alone prestige brands, whereas Mercedes-Benz is an all-encompassing manufacturer.

Because of historical and cultural circumstances, Mercedes-Benz has always been very different from the British marques. Even though Mercedes has always had an outstanding reputation for quality and an impressive clientele of Emperors, Kings, and noblemen ; Roll-Royce and Bentley are synonymous with Royalty, aristocracy, and elitism.

Let's be completely honest about it, Rolls and Bentley have a snob-appeal that Mercedes simply cannot match ...no matter how expensive their Maybach model is.

A grille in this style would be perfect.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
