S-Class [Official] Mercedes-Maybach Pullman (VV222)

The Mercedes-Benz S-Class, formerly known as Sonderklasse, is a series of full-sized luxury sedans and coupés produced by Mercedes-Benz. The S-Class is the designation for top-of-the-line Mercedes-Benz models and was officially introduced in 1972 with the W116, and has remained in use ever since. The S-Class is the flagship vehicle for Mercedes-Benz, being positioned above the other Mercedes-Benz models.
Even in Pullman form the S-Class style is understated which might be a big plus to some potential buyers who want to fly under the radar of a Rolls Royce.

Maybe fly under the radar footprint of a 747. :D

The Pullman is as long as the Maybach 62. Understated or not, it's still a very large vehicle and will stand out in regular traffic.

I guess this car will be for those executives who says to all of his employees "I understand your pain! I bought an S600 Maybach/Pullman instead of a Rolls Royce Ghost" ....and then a week later layoff some more workers.

Not the most clever executive, because the Pullman will be more expensive than the RR Ghost.

lol, I was mainly referring to the image radar factor.

The Pullman interior is just outstanding! I personally think it looks better than the Rolls Royce Phantom extended. The design details are more coherent and elaborate. Rolls is definitely colder
with no fuss detailing.

I agree the Phantom is "Colder" .......but it's also more self-consciously stylish. The Mercerdes gives a strong impression of comfort whereas the Rolls is more intentionally formal.

For long journeys I can't imagine a more comfortable place to be than in the Mercedes ........but taste-wise, it's much more "middle class" (for want of a better description).

This reinforces the point that these two vehicles are not really competing with each other .........they are both outstanding in their own way.

The Bentley Mulsanne also has a nice executive option for the slumming it CEO.

The Phantom is more timeless , more traditional its not intended to travel in long distances it is merely means to an end that when you got off the plane you have a short journey to the hotel , boutique , villa etc . Maybach looks as if you are expecting a long trip , the automotive equivalent of flying so you have more comfort features even though you are turning the corner into the next street. Although I agree not many many people would want to be disturbed in such comfort.
But both brands know their customers...That is enough.

^ Perhaps. It wont come to the USA for the first couple of years, though. :)

"The first Mercedes-Maybach Pullmans will be delivered in non-U.S. markets in early 2016, priced from "around half a million euros," according to Daimler. (We might get the car in a couple of years’ time, but the focus for now is on countries such as Russia and China.)" -- Car and Driver

I actually like this rear seat presentation the most out of the 3. Looks really luxurious like the Maybach and way more inviting and comfortable than the Rolls IMO. It's perfect. Car and Driver just declared the Mulsanne to have the best interior money can buy. I said the exact same thing last year after I got a chance to sit in one for the first time. I would have the Mulsanne over any of the Benzes or Rollers.
I hope not executed like this. I would dislike it a lot if that fold up seat with stupid little monitor is always there like that. Car you get the car without those seats?
If you do not need the extra room there is always the S600 Maybach.

Never knew Rolls had that configuration too. Looks great. There has never been a better time to be a rich car enthusiast.

SDNR is right. I should have pulled it off the Official site.
The Phantom would not have the room for such a seating position. (Post edited)
All the more to the Pullman then.

The Pullman is like laferrari.
Maybach will be more like a 458. The price of the Pullman is exponentially higher than the maybach s600, hence owning a Pullman will be more like a lifestyle of some very special people. Dictators... And so on. Whereas maybach s600 will be more of a value for money luxury sub limo

The Phantom has unfortunately been bastardised by the aftermarket to provide Pullman like length. But seriously only the most Noveau-Riche asshole would do that to their Phantom as does taking the roof of the limousine to make it a full convertible.
The extra length is completely unnecessary as the Phantom Extended Wheelbase fulfils every requirement needed without resorting to extra doors and length.

Earlier tonight we were presented the first conceptual ideas for the RR SUV which I will talk about in that thread. But Maybach and Pullman was brought up in the discussion. A manager used the variation of Maybach and Pullman similar to the Lincoln Town Car and the Limousine.

The inside of a Phantom feels like a small apartment. Everything else like a big car. That is the biggest difference.

While awaiting the new Pullman, some pics from the 2008 Paris Auto Show, where the 221 predecessor S 600 Pullman GUARD state limousine celebrated its premiere. :)

In my view, the most impressive aspect of the new Pullman is the roof-line. Mercedes did not cut any corners and enginneered the extension with the proper curvature so the car does not look sagged in the middle like many LWB extensions. It's expensive but it's well worth it.

Mercedes-Maybach

In November 2014, Daimler announced the revival of the Maybach name as a sub-brand of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222), positioned as an upscale version akin to the more sporty Mercedes-AMG sub-brand.
