Really confused....that's how I feel.
Originally, I was concerned with the front overhang looking huge. After seeing these pics, it still looks big, but better than I had imagined it turning out. The shutlines on the rear for the trunk/roof-cover look odd, especially from a rear aerial 3/4, but that's the price one pays for a convertible hard-top. Side profile looks good, without any wayward lines that seems to be M-B's M.O. as of late. The profile does harken back to SL's of the 60's and 70's where the front is taller and becomes ever so slimmer as the lines get to the rear...essentially, it's the anti-wedge. The rear is quite nice, except I'm no fan of reverse lights on the bumper, but that's my own weird little idiosyncrasy. Interior is very nice, but i reckon more aluminum, wood, CF, or whatever the trim of choice would be nice. I really like that ribbed look on the seats and imagine they must one of the most comfortable driving thrones. The interior is really worthy of an SL.
The front, like most people have said before me on this thread, is where the confusion sets in. Having that LED strip on car like the ML makes sense because it gives that illusion of height and toughness. For the SL, they ought to have gone with a CLS-like application, to give it width and sleek grandeur. Maybe, IRL it'll look good, but right now I'm left scratching my head a bit.
