Do you think it's a car of excess? It's only rival is the Continental GT Speed Convertible. If I lived in Malibu and was filthy rich, this would make the ultimate daily driver - Big roads, great scenery and hardly any rain.

It is appropriate. Given that it's comfy as an S-Class, can keep up with Jaguar F-type and is as airy as a Rolls Royce Dawn, it's a damn good jack of many trades. You can justify the price of the S65 AMG Convertible by totalling the cost of all those cars.

Only the equally expensive 911 Turbo S offer the same versatility. This is what luxury is about and what makes Stuttgart's manufacturers stand out from other manufacturers that are run by accountants and not dreamers.

But for this money wouldn't you really have a Conti GTC ( when it debuts)?.. I LOVE what they have done on the inside and now with the panny underpinnings i am sure it’s a more rewarding drive

Every one of these that Mercedes makes should be bought, you'll likely never see this type of Cabriolet from Mercedes again with a V12.
