Which engine?

The other day I was test driving a W223 S 350d non 4Matic. This one on special request, because most S available are S 400d 4Matic. The car was brand new and had a very nice specification, among others:
- MBUX Augmented Reality Head-up Display;
- 3D driver display;
- AMG line exterior combined with night package;
- exclusive package interior line (which means nappa leather just about everywhere and alcantara roof and door pillars).

Fuel economy is insane. I've driven about 325 kilometers, with a lot of traffic and many stop and go and filled it up with 16,1 litres. Voice control proves to be more efficient and reliable compared to my previous drives in W223. Several commands, questions can be given without having to resort to the words "Hey Mercedes". During the whole drive I've only once touched the display (for connecting my phone). Just the way I like it, I'm not the touchy type.

Pictures will follow.

I see you as the proud owner of one soon :cool:.

And what an excellent choice it would be as one of the current four most visually attractive German automobiles. Along with the Porsche 992 Carreras and Taycan, as well as its' R232 SL sibling.

Had they updated the interface to zero layer Mick? I truly do find it excellent to use, but you are right I find myself using the voice command so much!

I don't know if it was, Mr. M. at least I didn't notice or pay attention to it. Quite frankly, I wasn't aware this was possible on W223. Always connected this with the hyper screen fitted Benz's.

@Mick Briesgau what are your views on the interior? You still consider the fit & finish lacking?
My opinion hasn’t changed @SKY

I would like to add however, that I formed my opinion comparing the interior of W223 to it’s predecessor W222. I still think, that latter has made use of a better quality of materials and better solutions in some parts of the interior. And I still don’t like touch screens.

But stand alone, W223 has the best to offer compared to it’s competitors and is therefore best in class. As far as G70 is concerned, to form an opinion on it’s interior, I first have to drive it for a couple of hundred kilometers, use it, experience it, feel it. Based on, often foto shopped foto’s, I can’t form an opinion. Respect to those, who can.
