Multiple S-Class owner here and I am beyond excited about the car as are many of my clients who have driven nothing but S-Classes since the W116. I’m sure the sales figures will also back up these claims.

Folks,

Try to accept each other's opinions, even if it's not matching your own. It's not that hard. Everyone can express their own thoughts on liking or disliking, provided that you all refrain from personally attacking one another. We're all grown ups here, so no need to insult each other.

You are wrong, many true fans here and many are happy.

you mean many true fanboys are happy ;)

the funny thing is the fanboys trying so hard to force themselves to believe this is good design , and if they hear anyone said this is ugly design they always thinkk you are on the devil side (BMW)

i am here in this forum since 2013 you can read my comments about Mercedes W222 , now this car on the same level of Lexus and Cadillac and maybe Jaguar :happy001: , BMW and Bentley in another level this true

good for you and for anyone love the new bad ugly W223 and thanks to Tesla and apple :hat:

Good job Bentley , Good luck BMW

Another detail I don't understand. May seem like a trifle, but it's not.
Year 2020. Mercedes is trying to make a "clean" design interior and makes this.

Almost 20 years ago VW knew how to make the design "cleaner".

That's a small detail but Mercedes was always a KING of the small details.

Ok call me when the sales are in.. hahah

Thread cleaned from unrelated conversations.

Again,

Play nice, fellas. Anymore of these personal attacks and foul language towards each other, and the mod team will issue a thread ban.

Now, we all want to enjoy talking about the new Mercedes S Class, so carry on, but:

KEEP IT CIVIL.

Have a nice day / evening.

Funny, I would never call Mercedes the king of small details from an interior perspective. That's what Audi really built it's reputation on over the last 20 years or so.

As far as the vent is concerned, the placement seems to a bit of Mercedes tradition. The side window defroster is always in that location dating back several generations; prior to the W222 it was sometimes bundled together with the driver's air vent. Seems to be one of those things they do intentionally, looks be damned.

Anyone know if there will be an option to get the center console and doors in wood trim? We’ve only seen that option with the carbon fiber trim so far.
Welcome back! I was wondering where you were.
I'm sure, just like the W213, they'll make it an option sooner or later. I just don't know why they do that when it should have been matching with the interior trim from day one.
Yes, but how many true S-Class customers are there here and how many are happy?
Not too many if you glance at MB World.

^Thanks for pointing that out. Absolutely nothing wrong with that detail whatsoever.
You have to give it to Mercedes for differentiating themselves on the interior design front. That in itself is not an easy task to accomplish, especially these days.
The S-Class has such rich detail and substance without the overuse of aluminums and unnecessary details to tell its clients and drivers what it is.
The S-Class, even this version has a certain level of success others are still trying very hard to attain.

Not surprising at all given the dramatic change in direction with the interior. We’ll see if it mellows out with time. We have many reviews and customer experiences to look forward to.

Ahh- the W126: Did you know, that this s class had a ventilation of the front doors? Which meant that the front door panels were nicely heated during cold weather. That was an absolutely unique feature. Maybe heated door panels are coming back now.

AUDI??? Really? Can you name an AUDI that have the interior switches of the same level with a W221? Lets just compare some of them:

Despite the fact that I really love the D4 interior, it's not even close to W221 in terms of small details. Every detail in a W221 was unique, not seen in other models. They were very well made and there was a feeling of quality. That's what I call attention to small details. I think W222 is the best in terms of the overall interior design, but have some flaws for which I see no excuse. But the small details are still there. The thing how they integrated the climate buttons into the design. It's just genius!

As for the vents - it was ok back then with that "loaded" design. W223 has the new clean design with the large areas of clean almost straight surfaces. So the vents are out of place there for me. The car of the future cannot have the vents from 80's. They should have asked AUDI, BMW and Bentley how to do it)

I will gladly leave you to your opinions, but I just think it's so odd that you think Mercedes isn't capable of engineering a different solution if they wanted to. In fact, my SLS had the defroster vent in the pillar just the way you like because their usual setup wasn't possible. My car is long gone but here is a pic where you can clearly see this:

I'm going to call the vent placement a preference of yours and move on.

What exactly is so exciting about it? Not downplaying the quality that a new S-class brings, but I'm genuinely curious what's exciting compared to your current S-class and RR Ghost?

^She never said new S is exciting. She said she is excited about it.
There is not an exciting car in this entire segment. That is not what this class of vehicles is about. Exciting belongs to E63/ M5.
