S-Class (W222) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class produced from 2013 to 2020, serving as the successor to the W221 S-Class and predecessor to the W223 S-Class. The W222 has a similar design theme to the C-Class (W205) and E-Class (W213).
September or October hopefully... I guess, we Americans, should not complain too much about the 222's release date. It was January for the the 220 and March for the 221. If there is a delay in US production, my guess is that MB experiencing higher than expected demand worldwide is the reason...

IMO I don't think its the higher than expected demand. Most other countries at least have a posted MSRP for the vehicle, and have seen the "grand unveiling". The USA hasn't seen either. My guess is MBUSA is having some type of difficulty with a USA law, regulation, safety something or another, emissions, etc. They will decide the final MSRP after they are finished with the attributed costs of the above mentioned items, and have figured how to roll this cost into the MSRP respectively, as well as when the car will be available for launch and sale.

Unfortunately I was not able to come - the picture is from my colleagues from the MB club .
I hope i will make it to the evening gala premiere. There will be also Robert.

Wish you make it to the Gala. Have a great time and ...... make some pictures for us?

Also known as New York City's single largest media event, this Autumn's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is currently under way, with over 100 designers showing their Spring 2014 collections from September 5 until September 12, at the Lincoln Center.

Among those world-renowned fashion items, Mercedes-Benz has decided to show an icon of its own, the W222 S-Class, arguably the best car in the world in the eyes of many.

The House of Mercedes-Benz fashion boutique is situated in the main lobby of the Lincoln Center, and that's where the specially prepared S-Class is sitting, prepared to greet all visitors to the event.

Claire Distenfeld, owner of the Fivestory fashion boutique and also curator of the fashion looks displayed within The House of Mercedes-Benz, explains: “As a boutique owner myself, I realize the importance of creating an environment that touches each of the customer's five senses. The House of Mercedes-Benz depicts the amazing characteristics of the all-new S-Class in a unique way which appeals to a fashion-minded audience.”

Visitors will be able to experience both the vehicle's Air-Balance perfume system and the energizing hot-stone massaging seats, quite a trade-off for not actually driving the car around the Lincoln Center.

It appears Mercedes is still monitoring demand and making production shifts to different markets. I ordered my car for delivery in Portugal the day they oppened sales on May 24th. I was promised delivery for July 20. On July 15 learned that the production for Portugal was shifted to first half October. I will still get the first car in Portugal as they will only be two produced for this market this year.

Back in 2005, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class W221 became the first ever vehicle to be awarded an Environmental Certificate from Germany's TÜV Süd, thus creating a tradition that is now continued by the new S-Class W222, which has just achieved a similar certification.

“The new S-Class achieves consumption and emissions values that were little more than a dream just a few years ago, even for a mid-size car,” explains Professor Dr Herbert Kohler, Chief Environmental Officer at Daimler AG. “In comparison with the predecessor series, consumption has been reduced by up to 20 percent, and all models lead their respective classes in terms of efficiency. The CO2 emissions of the S 400 HYBRID have been cut from 186 g CO2/km to 147 g CO2/km compared with the previous model.”

Apart from that, all engine versions of the new S-Class comply with the not-yet-mandatory euro 6 emission standards.

The German brand is analyzing the environmental compatibility of its cars across the entire life cycle of a model – from the beginning of production, through the car's life cycle on the road and to end-of-life recycling, which is far more than the legal requirements for a carmaker.

Not into that colour scheme, and it's a shame to miss out on the great sunroof. Leather is nice though.
I second that, Luke. By the way, Brabus is not exactly my cup of tea. But for the ones who like this kind of tuning, I congratulate them for the Quality Brabus is offering.
