S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
My build date was moved to October 1D...
But is MBUSA really going to release the 2014 S-Class in a couple of weeks, without even telling us the price of the car by now???

I don't get it, this is Pulmann or extra long wheelbase S-Class?. What are the official informations?[/quote]

There should not be any confusion that this is the XLWB car. Pullman is significantly longer, on account of including an extra row of seats (rear-facing). Pullman is more of a specialty product, like the Pope's ML Class or more aptly, the Guard models. Here is a link that should serve to vanquish any future confusion on account of a Pullman's ridiculous length: http://kkwu.files.wordpress.com/2008/10/mercedes_pullman_front.jpg
Pullman is not even a new concept, having been there for, I believe, every S-class generation.

How come the extra long wheel base version has three horizontal slots in the grill while the "regular" w222 S class has 4 slots in the grill. Shouldn't the longer car suppose to have more chrome and bigger grill?

Also the front rim design look horrible on the extra long wheel base in the above photographs. The rear wheel rim design is so appropriate for this type of car.

Something sounds wrong. I don't like the look of this. The rumor could very well be true on a delay for the US......

September or October hopefully... I guess, we Americans, should not complain too much about the 222's release date. It was January for the the 220 and March for the 221. If there is a delay in US production, my guess is that MB experiencing higher than expected demand worldwide is the reason...

My S550 has a build date now - September 20.

Man I wish my build date was that early. If I had just put my order in 2 weeks earlier.....

Right now, I don't even have a build date yet, and may not have one for another month..... (My dealer calls me a "second-waver")....

^ Well at least the production line will be running neatly by that time ^-^
One would hope so...
My build date is Oct1st, when is Oktoberfest in Germany?
I hope my car isn't built by workers hung over on beer and brats...:-)

I don't pick mine up until March so I'm guessing someone might start harvesting the aluminum and iron from the ground soon :) I opted for Euro delivery so I picked a date that coincided with my travel plans. This is going to be a very long 6 months. I am hoping to experience this vicariously through the buyers here. I also hope I don't bug the local dealer too much (once he has one that he keeps on the showroom floor for awhile).

BTW, I am still trying to decide on the interior. I do like the single color versus the designo blue and strangely enough, I find myself leaning towards the brown and black combo (blue exterior).

i feel that the need for the xl 222 is kinda useless, looking at it from a side view reminds me of the maybach, then looking at it from another angle i see the regular 222, im not sure this will be succesful nor the customer base it is targeting, as someone mentioned here before, they should have done an all new design model to compete with the likes of bentley and rolls royce.

Asia will eat the XL model up. It will sell in small numbers here, but we're not the main target for that model. Also, a model rubbing up against Bentley/Rolls-Royce just wouldn't work. That's rareified air in which the competence of the vehicle just barely eclipses the prestige of the brand in terms of importance.

@Wolfgang , is there any word on the XL model coming to the US? I didn't think we would even get that here.

Suspect the X222 may concentrate on chauffeur driven S-Class markets, HOH, and may also be planned for the USA, unlike the W222/SWB. MB may have pushed the X222 back to 2015, though, according to the latest rumors emerging from Stuttgart: "We can not put everything on the market in 2014, there also needs to be something in 2015." :)

Absolutely true, just look at the number of cars and variants they have launched this year, it is just astonishing. When they first came up with this product offensive strategy, I really doubted true meaning of it but dammit I was proved wrong. MB is on a roll and looking at at the sheer number of new cars/SUV's that they are going to launch in the near future without a doubt I would call this part of century as "The Resurrection of Mercedes Benz"

hahaha
alredy?????

as im saying thats 100 % WHY my w222 will be dark inside

can you imagine how this steeringwheel and all the beige details will look after a few years?

DISGUSTING !

daimler should took a darker beige and a more reliable color....this is just a big shame!

Or the driver should wash his hands?:)

That's nothing little car-hygiene can't resolve, though...
