S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
I did say evolutionary, not revolutionary. Anyways, the 7-series hung right up there with the S-class in sales in North America for many months (though overall, sold a good amount less) and won comparison tests every now and then. The 7-series isn't a bad product, and I don't think the next gen will be either.

The tech on the next 7er will be revolutionary such as the CFRP influence which will feature on all the body panels , the structure and suspension as will a 9 Speed Automatic gearbox , laser headlights and high tech driver , passenger HUD amongst others including important enhancements on the EfficientDynamics front as well as Further advancement on ConnectedDrive features.

The look of the car is typical 7er but lines are much sharper and three dimensional . headlight and rear light units are much more slimmer than before.

Think of the 7er as Revo-evolutionary.

Back to Topic , bought these 87th scale from their actual size.

I guess we have both influenced each other some...I just added sport pack to my order because of the bumper talk you have posted here ;) Couldn't get it out of my head... Now Im just waiting for a price to be set on the diamond stitched leather to see if I am getting black/black poplar, or nut brown/black nappa leather

Can you tell me please where did you buy those scale models ? :D

This thread is about the S-Class, people. Let's keep the discussion about other brands in their respective forums.

so funny how merc returned to the organic, curved design back after their fail with the edgy and angular shape design...
but..... i love organic :)

It is unfortunately true. In more "pedestrian" specification (18" rims and common basic metallic silver hue), the W222 is not an extraordinarily handsome automobile. Visually, it is in fact rather boring and hardly eye arresting. Of course, this will not diminish the cars' unquestionably impressive technical attributes.

I think the problem is not with the design of the W222. IMO it looks very attractive in pictures, and being constantly compoared to cars twice or thrice the price by so many here. The W221 LWB or the W220 were also very attractive cars in their times. Yes the W222 looks even better with the AMG package. But other than the slight variation in bumper design and the rim options the rest of the car is exactly the same. I think the issue is with the familiarity of the design. Mercedes has been using the same basic design theme for almost 4 decades now and the evolution could be enough for some that also includes me.

If 3.6 is an estimate for the E 63 AMG Estate, then 4.0 is a very conservative estimate for the S. Despite the few hundred pound weight difference, respective engines on each are separated [usually] by 100 pounds of torque.

I see confirmed here that 4matic and MBC will be mutually exclusive (no surprise).

guys is it true that US won't get Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus because it's illigal here in usa? You know the one that let you have your high beam on all the time without dazzling others?

Agreed. In reality it'll be around 3.6s - a hundred kilos or so heavier than the E 63 S 4-MATIC but up a 100 Nm torque.

The problem for Mercedes is the next S 65 AMG, costing around €100k more than the €160k S 63, with its 2WD, cannot be seen to be officially slower than the much cheaper S 63, hence the fib about the at-first-pass surprisingly slow sprint time.

Unfortunate that 4Matic and MBC are exclusive. I assume this will also be true on the lesser models ? Reason ?

Lovely combination (y)
Mine is going to be Anthracite-Blue, black/nutbrown Exclusive package leather, Burmester High End, S350 Bluetec engine.
Wow, this new color seems like the big winner of choice...
Euros and Americans are agreeing on something, who would have thunk it?!:)
Anthrazitblau - Braun/Schwartz for me too Mick...
