The sheet is copied from a chinese auto forum ,it said it's the spec of upcoming W222 S65 and S63 AMG.Accoring to the information,S65 will continue to use the old 3 valve V12 engine(disappointed!) and 7G-TRNOIC gearbox, the aged old 5AT used in W220 W221 S65 will be gone.

Where/what is the hp number in there?

EDIT: 463KW = 620HP?

M

It's the Nennleistung figure (third row). 463kW for S65 and 395kW for S63.

I figured that was going to happen since the SL65 is using it already. There's really no reason to develop a new V12, it's take rate is low and its not used in many models.

W222 is a great car,but the mechanical improvement on the W222 seems not so big as expected.

A new v12 maybe, and the 9 speed.

Manufacturers rarely introduce new power plants and transmissions with the new models these days. They usually stagger those with the mid-cycle facelift. Look at the previous-gen S-class; the 7-speed transmission carried over and the 5A was still being used in some applications there too. The E-class came in with carryover powertrains as well when the W212 was introduced. If you look, Mercedes' competitors employ similar tactics. It saves money and eases quality concerns.

The fate of the V12 engine will depend on the sales volume. Let's hope our friends in China and Russia will buy them faster than Mercedes can produce them!

Good news a basic 550PS S63 can run 0-100km/h in 4.3 seconds,with perfomance package and 4 matic,probably it can do 0-100km/h under 4 seconds,this is a great achievement for a huge car like S-Class.

those numbers from a chinese site are the numbers for SL63 and SL65. They are not for the S class.

No wonder there is no mention of 4Matic anywhere! Maybe there will be a new V12 next year.

Luckily you did see the humor in my reply.(y)

And here is another one for you: For a moment there, I did assume the MBC/ABC not being available to the 6-cylinder models hence the weight disadvantage of the system and the repercussions that will lead to more fuel consumption and higher CO2 levels..!?:D...or that was not such a stupendous thought on my part...?

BUT:

Sounds more likely;)(y)

Lol...aww shux. Now I feel like an idiot. I didn't think about the weight implications. That said if they can laden a 350 with 4matic and kilos of optional equipment...

It would be interesting to know what ABC and MBC add in terms of weight. Will have to have a look at the comparative V6 and V8 data when it's out.

Those AMG numbers are dead wrong.
I have it on good authority that the 63 will have 900nm.

As someone stated those are the SL numbers

It might be a law or something now. Need for confirmation the vehicle is locked.

I don't like the chirp or the honk. Just a silent three time blinking by the turn signals will do. Just like the old days.

I do not know. My chirp comes in handy in a huge parking lot as a means to pin the direction of the car.

I have been under the impression that the 65 engine would be overhauled with a 4 valve/cylinder design and have somewhere around 680hp (but offered with something like 640-650). To be honest, the S-Model AMG 4matic makes the S 65 superfluous from a performance point of view, especially if the v12 insists on being offered with RWD only (which is counterintuitive to me). Smoothness, v12 bragging rights and trim is what the 65 offers factually over the s63.

Changes/improvements on the 63 side seem almost set in stone now. I would not shed a tear if the S 65 continues to offer essentially the same formula since the last year of the 220, except for 2 more speeds. It makes choice less painful for many AMG enthusiasts who are still hung up on the v12 somewhat.
