S-Class (W222/C217/A217) [Official] Mercedes-Benz S-Class (W222)

The Mercedes-Benz W222 is the sixth generation of the Mercedes Benz S-Class. Body styles: W222 (standard), V222 (long), X222 (limousine, Mercedes-Maybach), VV222 (pullman), C127 (coupé), A217 (convertible). Predecessor: S-Class (W221). Successor: S-Class (W223). Production: 2013–2020.
@Merc1 9G: The new 9G fits well with the W222. There is a smooth transition between the gears. Much better than 7G. And it saves 0.5 l / 100km.
However - a big let down is the kick down. If I jump on the pedal, there is - nothing. It shifts down for several gears. Turns the lower gear to maximal. Shifts in the next gear. And then moves forward.
I am not convinced (its my third W222. So I know them).

Switch to a sportier or the sportiest mode.

Well if you're expecting it to drop down a bunch of a gears, you aren't cruising normally anymore anyways. From what I'd read that 9G was more responsive than the 7G, but I'd have to drive one myself. Mercedes' DNA doesn't mesh well with a sportier gearbox standard like say the ZF in your average BMW. They simply aren't trying to match that because they've had years to do it, if they wanted. I've never had a problem in any Mercedes once the car learned my driving style. I always got the kick down I wanted after driving the car for a while.

Interesting conversion!

proves why the W222 is a heavily facelifted W221.
Same Wheelbase - same floor chasis...

....Just wait until we see a F01 with a G10 lights and bumpers. ;) The dimensions of the wheel base are also identical notwithstanding the carbon core.

Hello Guys,

I am not sure if this has been addressed earlier,
However, i was wondering, with the new Style of the infotainment system available on the new E-Class. Is it possible to upgrade the current infotainment systems on the S-Class models?

If Yeas, that would be great, even if they do provide it with a certain upgrade charge at the dealers.

I doubt it. Manufacturers have been known not to update your current software in order for them to sell the newer cars. Plus I think you might new hardware to handle all those new graphics, not to mention different COMAND controllers on the steering wheel and upcoming one without the knob.

Most probably not upgradeable for existing cars, but will most probably be available on future(facelift) cars.
