Particularly on mobile phones without wifi.....I try to avoid massive pic threads when on cellular data

That last set of pics with the black car is sexy though :D

Might be the S 600 Maybach (X222)? :)

It's probably not easy being one of the most speculated future Mercedes-Benz models in recent years, but the following pre-production prototype of the S-Class of S-Classes seems to be doing pretty well.

First thought to oddly sport the Pullman moniker, which in the past was only reserved for stupidly-long Mercedes-Benz models, this camouflaged S-Class with an even longer wheelbase has been recently reported to resurrect the Maybach name.

In other words, this extra-long Sonder Klasse might revive Maybach as a model nameplate instead of a brand, which would make sense in more than one way if you think about it.

The older Mercedes-Benz aficionados might even remember the fact that the original Maybach concept car from 1997 was also wearing the three-pointed star and was officially named the Mercedes-Benz Maybach Concept.

Set to feature a wheelbase around 30 cm (12 inches) longer than the current S-Class Lang (V222), this future model will try to fill some of the gap left by the Maybach 57 and 62, but packed in a slightly smaller package.

The car in the video below, filmed by YouTube user SupercarsAllDay somewhere in Spain, appears to be the 600 model, which will sport the same six-liter, twin-turbocharged V12 in the recently-revealed S 600 (V222). This translates into 530 hp and 830 Nm (612 lb ft) of torque in the “regular” S-Class, but we may see an increase in power in the Maybach model.

Expect the model to be unveiled at one of the upcoming Chinese Auto Shows, as the Middle Kingdom people are known as being big fans of longer wheelbases, while China itself will be a huge market for the car.

Does anyone know why in some pictures there's wood on the upper backside of the frontseats and in some there isn't?

It depends on the trim level one chooses.

Not all trims get you the backsides with wood, and also not all trims get you wood on the door just below the hand rests.

I have to say, it is one the most powerful details for me on the new S Class.

Looking at the second interiorpicture in the post of Dawid21 (post 3812) I'd expect the wood on the upper backside. because it's got the exclusive package, which comes with the "large" woodoption (is wood on the door just below handrest and upper backside of frontseat. Or ist it so, that when ordering backseat entertainment, the wood on backside of frontseat isn't an option anymore? I'm really confused on this.

I have a query, if there are any problems with the first the new S class? as with elements of the Interior, I have heard that there are problems with folding elements in the Interior. Someone knows something more?

Haven't heard or read anything about that, untill now. Which elements do you mean exactly? Wooden elements or aluminium?
Thanks for the explanation and picture above, Dawid21, that explains all.

And I heard from the user of the new S-class, that's supposed to be weak to fold each element inside, and sometimes something creaks. Clipboard pop-up console reportedly to end will not eject yourself and hide, but resists.

I have a question for the owners of this beauty: How happy are you with the steering? Not with the wheel itself, but with the 'feeling'? Do you find the steering to be direct enough?

The feel of steering can be fairly subjective. For this type of car (large, spacious, quiet and luxury) I really like the feeling and there is a noticeable difference when engaging sport mode.

We have the 20" wheels which can add to the "feeling" of the road. The steering is not totally numb or disconnected, it is effortless while also retaining a sense of control. I love driving this car, both around town and on long road trips.

Really a bad & sad news:

Brand new Mercedes-Benz S-Class declared total loss after engine fire |
Car was only two weeks old

A brand new 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Classwas declared a total loss after a fire ignited in the engine compartment.

Well this is unexpected. A new S-Class bought just two weeks ago suffered some serious damages caused by a fire which started in the engine area. The car - believed to be an S350 Bluetec - belongs to a retired couple from North Rhine-Westphalia who while driving on the Ulrich Stöckl road noticed there was something wrong with the vehicle and pulled over.

The engine compartment caught fire and was mostly put out by employees of a nearby company as well as by some bystanders. The fire brigade consisting of 18 people and three vehicles arrived on scene but it was too late for the flagship sedan due to extensive damages under the hood. The front wheels also had to suffer and a lot of smoke penetrated the cabin.

Stuttgart has paint issues .. both MB & Porsche have this orange skin kind of paint feel. Any detailer can correct this but I wonder why it comes like this from the factory. Bad PDI ? I doubt it.

^Porsche does too? I know new BMWs do. I think it is a function of the new eco- friendly paint? And dealers can fix it? like with out polishing? I know detailers can fix it by polishing, but you are essentially just removing layer of paint, which sucks.

Yeah, paint correction is removing paint unfortunately. but you know, wax it regularly and it will stay for a long time ..

You are right, BMW paints sucks too. In all honesty if Manufacturers care and value their customers expectations like they used to, they would correct the paint and clear coat it before leaving the factory. But they are :greedy: blinded.
