Saw this weird comparison, the guy has mentioned the S-Class as S65 and specs shown was also about it, but actually the car is S63.

'In a recent interview, Mercedes-AMG CEO Tobias Moers told Car & Driver the company will eventually offer an all-wheel drive system on models equipped with the twin-turbo V12 engine. The executive also revealed the V12 engine will become more powerful as he wants to create a "meaningful" power gap between the V8 and V12 engines.'

The SL65 black series from 5 years ago has 670hp from the V12 engine, so the engine is capable of producing more than the 630 hp on the current SL 65.

In the Pagani Huayra it's got 730PS and Brabus squeeze 900PS out of the V12 so it's still got huge potential but from a technological point as well as emissions and consumption potential improvement it is behind the newer engines. AMG could base this engine on the current 4 and 8 cylinder turbo engines and it will be vastly more efficient. Adding some electric turbos and cylinder deactivation together with energy recovery systems could bring out a new high tech V12 with huge power.

What I wonder is when are we going to see the new V12. The current one is ancient already.

I'm afraid with that amount of V12 vehicles MB sells it's possible we'll never see new V12 engine. Also it's too heavy for engine-in-front architecture and today trend is opposite.

Next 213 E63 is getting E-diff from C63 S-model (and GT S). So it could be imlemented into S63 at least.

But I personally feel that MB won't discontinue the process of having V12 engines under the hood of their flagships. Hence we could expect a new V12 very soon as the present one is quite old motor and it feel that the max have extracted from this unit.

So do I, I don't believe MB leaves its top cars without V12. But all new engine or based on current technological V8... Great doubts.
