M-Class (W166/C292) [Official] Mercedes-Benz ML Facelift

The Mercedes-Benz W166 is the third generation M-Class ("ML") range of mid-size luxury SUVs. Facelifted versions renamed to GLE and GLE Coupé. Model codes: W166 (SUV), C292 (SUV coupé). Production: July 2011–2019. Model years: 2012–2019.
I can't help to think that the facelifted ML63 was designed by some designer from Mercedes Actros department. It simply lacks flair and persona.

The grill and bumper have got a bit of an Audi theam going on, with the grill going all the way down.:usa7uh:

Why is there an ML500 badge on the photos? Also, it would be great if MB decided to put the new 3.5L V6 with 300+ hp into the ML350. Overall a nice progression on the standard ML. The front end on the AMG model is a disaster. Too bad because I was looking to get an '09 ML550 with AMG package, but now I will have to settle for a standard one. How could MB designers screw it up?

In most part of the world, the 5.5 L V8 is just badged as 500, so the ML500 still has the 5.5 V8 in it.

Been on vacation and just saw the official photos. must say as a Mb salesrep this is very dissapointing. The sport front looks like a catastrophe.

i like the headlight change, but the grill could have been updated to match the new C and GLK.

And then I noticed, no power domes on the hood? What gives? The spy shots showed power domes, and this looked like one of the better ways to liven up what is an otherwise boring hood design.

The standard version looks much better than the sport. I can live with that. The sport is awful. "Mercedes execs. May the fleas of a thousand camels invade your groin."

WoW!, I`m a huge fan of the changes. I`m beginning to think that MB is doing two face-lift jobs to a models` life cycle now. Seems the ML was just introduced! Anyway I don`t think you guys really see the chages here. All AMG did was remove the 1970s virtcle-bumper studs and the mini grills that sat under the foglights, (thay also added a new lower spolier kit) that`s it. I think it`s awesome! love it!!:t-cheers:

The previous AMG was much better looking!

I like the new ML it is a nice evolution over previous one. The AMG, OK maybe a little overdone with the front bumper but that again I wasn't a big fan of the previous AMG ML either before I saw it in real life. It is an overkill and I bet this one will be to once you see one of these monsters rolling down the road. However I would be really dissapointed if MB would ever go with that Audi grill because IMO it is soo old that when I see any new Audi it's just nothing new to me - allways the same grill design - very sad.

True, the front bumper is the same exact size. On the other hand it looks plain and hugh with out the pre-facelifted options.

Reiterating my point from the 'other side'.....

Looking at the 2 front images on page one, the two chrome strips were just preparing us for this new look. Who knows what's to come next,
but it will definitely be nothing like we expect and we get to opine all over again.

As you can see clearly here, the black strip where the license plate is has traditionally been 'body-colored', but the SL63 begins a new tradition of making it platinum/black.
That's the only thing giving it a singular look.

The 'SL65 Version' If you will .... Body-colored. And we may well see this version. Who knows

It is VERY obvious that the press picture has been photoshopped. The under plate is obviously not real and the fog lights are weird also pointing outwards. Hopefully we'll see the real thing in NY.

^ Yeah! I was wondering about those .. Why would anyone send out an Official Press release with fake images?
:t-hands:

I like it without the do-dads. The previous ML63s front bumper was overworked imo. This newer version is much cleaner looking (even though it gives the impression that it`s bigger) Looks robotic and edgy.

About the photo some say it`s a ps job (and it might be). I see bad photo settings with a bad camera. The dots are call photo noise.

It certianly looks better, but the reality is MB could have done so much more. The back looks pretty cool, and the wheels are sweet.

I was really hoping they would abandon those quirky round fog lights on the AMG style bumper cover, and go with something more in keeping with the rest of the AMG family.

I reckon this is a step backwards (exterior) in comparison with the preFL, the grille and the headlight changes made the car less elegant, and elegance was imo what made the ML a good alternative to the X5. This thing looks more 'rugged'...
