GLS [Official] Mercedes-Benz GL-Class (X166)

The Mercedes-Benz GLS, formerly Mercedes-Benz GL-Class, is a full-size luxury crossover SUV produced by Mercedes-Benz since 2006. The GLS is considered the flagship of the marque's SUV lineup, although the body-on-frame G-Class (originally intended for military off-roading but also offered in luxurious trims) is more expensive and has been in production longer.
Really? Where do you see that?

I'm not saying they're not "Benz-ish" at all, as there is some Benz in there, but IMO a strong (stronger) mix of BMW, namely 7er.

To me, the W212's rear lights are 100% intended to be evolved/modernized W126 lights.

^ With 7er backlights you mean the LED tubes as seen on the new GL? Because the shape doesn't remind me of a BMW much if any....

As for the car and the real life shots.....I think the front is looking a lot less hot in a lot of the live shots. There's something I can't quite put my finger on proportion-wise from some angles...

Maybe I have to get used to that, and for the rest it's a gorgeous monster.

The GL is making me like the ML more. I'm doing a bit of a 180 on the ML now. It looks so amazing.

Yeah, LED tubes, and even the shape and the way it ties into the shape of the rear and the chrome bar, just really reminds me of a 7er. Also, it has some BMW SUV language in there.

After the SL the GL gets that special blue too.
They found a way to steal at least one customer from BMW by only painting their cars in the right color :D
The new GL is great. Perfect for what it's supposed to be.
In the end I have my hopes high again for the W222 S-Class and hopefully it gets the special blue too.
Nevertheless having the opportunity to own a Mercedes in this color without having to pay 200k+ euro is thrilling for me :)

PS: Anyone knows if this blue is offered for the SL63 or the lesser models too ?

Looks good. Well, considering the new ML on other hand, this one is a huge improvement. That Japanese-ish rear lights actually look good. :usa7uh:

Mercedes SUVs just don't get any better looking that this. This is going to be an even bigger hit than the current GL.

I think this is a lovely looking Mercedes Big Suv i like how they still have the looks of the first generation i had one and really this one is like steps ahead in terms off interior and i am sure the ride and handling will be even better i think it looks just stunning especially that AMG just blows you away imagine looking at this hitting you in your rear view mirror awesome machine...This is definitely a Mercedes i would take in normal or AMG and both look equally stunning....To me the best looking SUV at the moment on the road...Also on the rear lights i really personally don't see it as BMW lights yes it is very very reddish like most BMW maybe that whats making some feel its a BMW copy..

What in the world are you talking about? The GL450 has 362, up from 335 and the GL550 has 429hp, up from 382.

The lower tuned version of the 4.7 V8 engine is for the CLS, E, and ML550 models. They all have 402hp.

It seems that the US will get GL450 and GL550 and Europe only GL 500. The GL 550 will have 320kw and the european GL 500 only 300kw.

And in Europe we don´t even get the ML500. Does that make sense forn you? For me clearly not. And why do they detune the V8 instead of making a proper 6-cyl with turbo and 350 PS?

They don't do it because they aren't on the BMW plan, nor do they need to be. What BMW says doesn't always go, believe it or not.

I also do not understand it. But they are obviously working on a turbo V6, so we will get the new turbo V6 when it is prepared, probably with the new S class and then it will spread to all product range. I believe it should be quite close to the V8 biturbo (if the normal aspirated 3,5 has 225 kw, the turboed should have at least 270 kw), so they believe in Europe the big engine would make no sense.

undeniably good looking suv but whats with those headlight eyebrows , i mean they look best ( compared to other models from mb ), still looking at it from certain angles feels wrong and reminds me of scarface ( tha scar that is):D :t-cheers:

Loving it in the live video. Just can't comprehend how I actually like the ML/GL now for SUV's!

For all the criticism toward certain M-B models that I throw forth, stating that they lose me with those models.... they put out one or two that make me go from hate (the previous iterations) to more than tolerate.

ateekt, I agree with you I just saw a Journey earlier today and the GL came to my mind first... they are almost the same but then again that doesn't make the GL a bad looking car :)
