Yeap, my friend is already desperately trying to throw money at the dealership to secure the earliest one in Australia. Typically the dealers have no idea yet.

This week with MB's strong social media presence, dealerships world-wide are probably having a large influx of housewives, celebrities, and nouveau riche trying to secure the earliest example.

Gone are the days of when you found out about and bought a new car when they arrived at the dealership.

MB really need to improve their communication with the dealers, they can't have the customers knowing everything about the new cars before the dealers do.

And MBUSA needs to seriously upgrade their website. Porsche has new models on their site from the moment they are introduced and usually within a few days you can build your own. Mercedes doesn't put the build your own up until the car hits dealers and sometimes long after. It's terrible.

I really really wish they will make LWB version of this car and focus on on-road comfort. Not that I can afford it but It's must be good to see one.

That is the exact opposite of what I'd want. It'd ruin everything the G-wagen stands for. Leave that to the GLS.

I think I would prefer a G500 to a G53 - the 4.0 V8 is surely sportier and sounds better ?

and because you can off road with a 500 I think it's the right choice. The brakes of the G63 mean you cannot get off road wheels on it. Not that I go off road...

NEW G-CLASS: ENGINE LINEUP DETAILS

While at the NAIAS 2018 in Detroit, the G-Class MOPF W463 model series was only presented as G 500, Mercedes-AMG will show the G 63 world premiere at the International Motor Show 2018 in Geneva. The G 350 diesel with in-line six may follow lateron.

G 63: Sales release in March 2018

With the new G-Class, Mercedes-Benz would like to do several things differently - although much remains the same. E.g. for the first time there is also an online configurator for the model, which is currently available as G 500 with 422 hp from 107,040.50 Euro. Manufacturer officials point out in parallel, the price has been stable compared to its predecessor due to significantly higher standard equipment of the new model.

G 63: Market launch at the same time as G 500

The Mercedes-AMG G 63 is only showing itself at the Geneva Motor Show and will be available in mid-March 2018 - presumably on 19/03/2018. However, the market launch of the G 500 - as well as the new G 63 - takes place at the same time in June 2018 at the dealerships. The G 350 d will be on sale in December 2018.

Incidentally, due to the new model, the model variants of the G 350 d Professional, the G 500 4×4² and the Mercedes-AMG G 65 were dropped.

The majority of sales are of the G63 in a lot of markets so we won't have to wait much longer to see it. G63 and AMG GT 4-door at Geneva with the A-Class hatchback. Beijing will bring something big I'm sure too.

I am not an SUV guy, but have immense respect for the G, and with this new one they have done a fabulous job on preserving it's character while at the same time adding new levels of luxury and technical innovation, it should be an even bigger success story than it's legendary forebear...

It's not uncommon for manufacturers to launch a new model with mid-range and premium engines, and offer entry level options 6-12 months later.
