That went right over your head.

Yeah it's just too difficult to understand the flawed logic of a modified ICE. But go ahead talking about the boxy shape, which is the least of the problems this car has.

Some really jealous BMW fans… The G is an icon and its shape shouldn’t be ever changed
You can make a car look modern , yet , timeless , at the same time.
There are examples , like 992.
G class has never had a competition problem. Its design has nothing to do with it. They could have come with a bespoke class leading EV platform and put the exact G visual shape on top of it. It would then weigh 2000 kg instead of 3000 kg, and it would be competitive with actual EVs on all fronts.
Sunny is talking about the whole technical part of the endeavor, not the design of the shell.
I like the G Wagon more than the average MB fanboy in this thread, just to be clear.
And I also have no problem with this new EV tank at all, other than a few visuals which seem easy to swap out for ICE parts (grille/headlight casing)
You? You have got to be kidding. Why don't you say it in a different way instead of being so hostile?
Yeah normally I wouldn’t agree but the G seems to bring out a lot of ridiculous comments. There are comments full of nonsense. Approaching the G class with an EV efficiency philosophy is nonsense. It's an iconic car and a rich man's toy. Nobody is interested in its efficiency or performance. Has anyone seen such comments about Rolls Royce Spectre? Does it have an EV platform? When a Mercedes at a level that BMW cannot reach is released, this type of smear actions begin. It's illogical.

I could care less about how much BMW sucks ass.
The G class offered unrivaled off road capability for a SUV. It build it's reputation on that capability and became a status symbol. This electric G, on the other hand, is a half assed effort. It is no different from BMW screwing a battery to 5er and calling it i5.
And it is not about just efficiency or performance. There is not a single objective measure I could find it betters a Rivian - I can rat it off again - it weighs the same, but it seats less, it carries less, it tows zero!, it's slower, has less range, has less ground clearance, has less wading depth...
The sad part is everyone here knows this, but rather just blindly cheer a shitty product and act like it doesn't matter, cause of some stupid sense of misplaced brand affinity.
The G-class doesn't need to strive to be a true EV. It's not an ordinary car. No market concerns, no high sales volume. It is enough to maintain its off-road capabilities and not lose its identity. Nobody wants to compare it to Rivian. Those who will buy it do not have such an expectation.
I gave the Rolls Royce example above. Who cares if it's an EV platform? This is not a 5 series.
b. there is no guarantee, it will continue to enjoy success once the pattern of mediocrity is established.
depreciating like a rock, so in 3 years is half price.
money money moneyThe gasoline G doesn't better every other gasoline SUV in range/power/off road/towing now, so again why should the EV version?
