They're focused on where they comfortably can make the most profit and for now that's primarily mid to high end. Depending on how economical the MMA platform turns out to be we could see the low end mix culled, especially if they're not SUVs.

My opinion only- Mercedes is very eager to keep their firm footing in the high end luxury space in the midst of all of these new EV brands targeting the very same customers.

I'm very curious to see what the outcome will be. They have quite a bad starting point - a SUV weighing most probably above 3 t, which would significantly restrict the payload for Europe - total allowed mass 3,5t and an aerodynamic of a parachute. The weight limit will cut the possibility for a bigger battery. It's very interesting also what the suspension will be, with four motors the rear rigid axle is not needed.

Sometimes I can not understand why the manufacturers don't adjust their MSRP according to the demand and supply. It's good for the dealers but this car could easily have a price from the factory of about 260-280 k USD.

Because 333K is absurd for 99% of Mercedes' products and dealers would only try to charge more on top of that if they could.
