G-Class [Official] Mercedes-Benz G-Class Facelift (W463)

The Mercedes-Benz G-Class, colloquially known as the G-Wagon or G-Wagen (as an abbreviation of Geländewagen), is a four-wheel drive luxury SUV manufactured by Magna Steyr (formerly Steyr-Daimler-Puch) in Graz, Styria, Austria, and sold by Mercedes-Benz. Originally developed as a military off-roader, later more luxurious models were added to the line. In certain markets, it was sold under the Puch name as Puch G until 2000.
Is it true that G Professional & 4x4/2 will be discontinued??? If so its really dissapointing.

I belive that G Professional is the only model which retain the core DNA of orginal Galendawagen and its more suited for expeditions & military purposes.

4x4/2 on the other hand is the model which is highly off-road capable with tuxido.

Word is they're replacing both models with a slighly smaller version of the 4x4^2 due to the popularity of the 4x4. A G65 should reappear whenever MB deciedes to develop a new V12.

With the way MB is going all-in on the luxury front in the interior.. I'm not sure they could strip the interior like the current G Professional.

For the manufacturer, yes. For the dealers, no.

Could you elaborate? Sales-wise, the G-class is the one MB model I don't fully understand. Residuals are amazing and demand for the G63 remains hot, but some dealers try to keep their G inventory very minimal.

Resale is great. Residuals are terrible. Dealers don't have as much control over inventory as you think. They order what they can get, but can only get what they are allocated by MBUSA.

A "Limited Edition" should become available on November 6. :)

Aside from the Brabus' lighter treatments, all aftermarket body kits for the G-class look gaudy and disgusting.

FIRST G-CLASS MODELS OF CURRENT GENERATION SOLD OUT

In anticipation of the "facelift" of the Mercedes-Benz G-Class, there seems to be an increased interest in the previous models. As we have learned from dealer circles, the first models are already sold out.

Special models almost sold out
According to our information the quite spectacular G 500 4×4^2 is sold out as well as the Limited Edition as G 500 as well as G 350 d Professional. The Mercedes-AMG G 65 12-cylinder variant, which is limited to 65 units, is also completely sold out to end customers.

Limited Edition only available as G 350 d
Those who are interested in a "Limited Edition" as G 350 d, may still be lucky these days to find one; but also of the standard G only very few vehicles are available to order before you only receive stored vehicles from the Graz production. So if you have serious interest in an individual current car, you should immediately contact a dealer.

G Facelift to Celebrate World Premiere in Detroit
It remains interesting that the upcoming G-Class facelift - which will offer significantly more space in the interior as well as improved technology and new assistance systems - will be celebrating its world premiere at the NAIAS 2018 in Detroit in January. However, a complete presentation of the "new vehicle" took place last week already in front of an exclusive clientele in Los Angeles.

Which is fine IMO since the G is still a throwback. The G only needs to be barely up to date, that way it remains closer to it roots.

^ Here's a pic which shows modest amounts of ambient lighting - may enhance passenger "wellness" on long trips? :)
