As an EQS saloon owner I would say overall it’s a pretty decent car, but I think the positioning and marketing is very confusing. They pitched it as an electric S class but it lacks the key ingredients which make an S class. The design isn’t stately, the cabin is nice enough but not luxurious, particularly the rear.
For me following the cancellation of the CLS, the EQS should have been pitched as a replacement for this (it’s what i had before the EQS).
For the part facelift they added the classic grill and bonnet star to make it more S, but I felt this only made it more confused, with the overall design just not lending itself to it. The full facelift seems to suggests this is going to be ditched and revert back to the bigger star on the front.
No real change to the interior apart from the obvious Yoke steering wheel option. Not a bad thing as I think overall it’s still a decent design, but I hope the quality of the lower level materials will be improved.
I don’t know if I’ll get the EQS facelift or wait for the E class EQ….
