E-Class (W213/C238/A238) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class W213

The Mercedes-Benz W213 is the fifth generation of the E-Class range. Body styles: sedan/saloon (W213), wagon/estate (S213), long wheelbase (V213), coupé (C238), cabriolet (A238). Production: 2016–2023. Predecessor: W212 E-Class. Successor: W214 E-Class, C236/A236 CLE.
Went to my local dealer where they had a black demo with a sports front and base interior (dials for gauges instead of dual screens).

Let me get some of the negatives out of the way...the blackpanel on the bottom half of the dash and console is a magnet for fingerprints. I am no longer the biggest fan of the matte finish dark wood. And there's a clear difference in terms of quality between the S' and the E's interior.

That being said, hands-down, I'd take the E-class over the S-class. The exterior is fantastic, and that's thanks to spot-on proportions. The interior design is great in person, and that's with old-fashion gauges. IMO, the interior room is more than enough and, in that regards, makes the S-class redundant. I would have spend more money to get the interior comparable to an S-class in terms of quality, but it'd still undercut the S by $25-30K. The trunk is capacious.

I didn't get a chance to drive it, but all the salespeople who just came back from training in Atlanta, and they were raving about how well it drives.

I think this may have replaced the 5er as my favorite executive sedan. I am thoroughly impressed.

At the Hong Kong Launch Event now. Car will be unveiled in 30 minutes.

Initial impression is good. The only issue(s) I have are the marginal headroom - both front and rear, and the wide transmission tunnel limited the amount of room for the left-foot rest.

There are a couple of hard rubber surfaces that are on the budget side, but not to the point of being an annoyance.

One has spend to spec the car to a decent level as the standard exclusive package is rather uninspiring. The options on the diamond white E200 on the stage added nearly 45% to the car's price.

I have to wait another 20 minutes for my turn in riding the car with a German instructor and test the autonomous braking. No accidents so far ;P

Also, I played around with the tiny touchpads on the steering wheel, and while in concept seem great, they were kind of annoying. Ditto to the touchpad on the console. But then again, I may need more than the 15 minutes that I spent in the cabin to get used to it, the Luddite that I am.

Copy / Paste and then change logo?
I saw these rims on a colleagues Nissan today, and the similarities really hit me.

Hot damn guys!
I am still elated the E55 is coming back with a twin Bi-turbo I6 with 490ps.
(I can only image the soundtrack this engine will produce after hearing the C43, which reminds me of the early Pagani Zondas in hi revs, just more toned down) AMG is working on the sonics.

490ps, that is more powerful than the full-fledged V8 E55 Kompressor V8 of 2004 which stood at 476ps. Lighter weight, 4-Matic i assume, and a better more efficient 9-speed tranny, The new E55 is going to be a performer.

The new E63 S is going to be insane. 605hp and 627lb-ft. it is more powerful than the SLR. With the addition of 4-Matic could probably smoke it from a 0-300kmh race.

yes the new E55 will be amazing but nothing beats the soundtrack of a V8 imo.
