E-Class (W212/C207/A207) [Official] Mercedes-Benz E-Class (W212) Facelift

The Mercedes-Benz W212 is the fourth generation of the E-Class range. It is the successor to the W211 E-Class. Body styles: four-door sedan/saloon (W212) and five-door estate/wagon (S212). Coupé and convertible models of the W212 E-Class generation are W204 C-Class based and known as the C207 and A207, replacing the CLK-Class (C209 and A209) coupé and cabriolet. Production: March 2009 – January 2016 (sedan), December 2009 – May 2016 (station wagon).
I agree, the full LED look ridiculously messy, disjointed and desperate to look "blingy".

I also really like the Classic-grille, looks like a great evolution. The Star grille is HORRIBLE. It looks so forced, so wrong on the E, like a sophisticated mature man with gold teeth. The AMG Sports bumper also looks terrible. I guess M-B had to change up the "AMG look" completely since everyone's copied it. BMW put one on their Z4, the new Accord has an AMG-wannabe front bumper now, etc. Too bad 'cause it's a beautiful and timeless look on an M-B, and this new Sports bumper is just a joke.
I highly doubt MB designers completely redesigned the AMG bumper because there are other similar designs out there, I think it is just a matter of time, the previous AMG look has been around for more than 10 years now, it is time for an entirely new design.

These interior pics are great, but is the standard version going to have stiching in dash and seat piping?
I doubt it.

Yeah but it was iconically Mercedes. So many (cheaper) cars have that bumper look, I feel they felt they had no other chance. Unfortunately, they were probably right.

I think it has reached it used by date and it is time for a fresh design, MB couldn't care less about lesser imitators, I am sure they will get their lawyers involved if they really cared.

Appalling, absolutely appalling. An embarrassment that an E-Class has come to this, especially during a facelift (desperation factor).

Totally disagree. Looks very nice.
looks like we'll have three trims. Luxury, sport, and some sort of 'tuner' look sport.
I like this silver one the best. Also, love the wheels on this one.
But, the luxury is MUCH improved. The problem with the E was that the luxury version always looked like a dang taxi. Nothing catchy about it.

I absolutely love the facelift. It looks supremely elegant and modern, and that interior is a complete 180 from the pre facelift. It finally looks worthy of something wearing the 3-Pointed star. My biggest gripe with the pre-fl was the awkward profile shot, but the new sheetmetal has changed that. As far as the headlights, I love them; The Sports Grille (although MB whores it out) has definitely grown on me, but nothing can replace the Classic Grille.

5/5 Stars from your female correspondent.

I have a feeling we in the U.S won't get to have the "Luxury" grille at all, since M-B said the UK won't even get it, and here all our cars are Sports anyways, basically.

I'd love to see a Luxury grille with the new AMG Sports bumper, could be a very stark contrast that just happens to work in giving a dynamic frontal presence that we see from the current E.

Both Pre fl and fl E-CLASS look so good in different way except the STAR GRILLE:stop:, just a different car, I will definately keep the Pre FL E-CLASS and waiting for the modern S CLASS W222 with the same design direction as the FL E-CLASS. The Pre FL E is very unique, and the FL E - Class is the future direction of the future.

The future will definately more round in shape for Mercedes lineup. KA need not worry about the depreciation of pre fl, I would definately keep mine. It is a two different car as compared.

I agree that I think the pre-facelift E will remain the more unique choice and will age the better of the two, as the design is more resolved and makes more sense as a singular piece.

If my car was fully payed off I wouldn't really mind from a solely ENTHUSIASTS perspective, I'd just enjoy mine and take happiness that in fact the facelift is so drastic that it doesn't really "date" my car, instead looks like a totally different one from the front and loses some of the flavor I like from the OG from the side. However, that doesn't change my unhappiness with M-B's lack of management vision here.

My car, however, is due back from Lease in early 2014 so I'm not gonna have to worry about it too much. Though it will suck since I've checked out from being a total enthusiast of my car, that it SO NOTICEABLY will look like a "previous model" to the general market (again, thanks M-B designers and management for the foresight).

To me the FL is not really a facelift to the E-CLASS, I felt more like Mercedes is offering an additional twins with different character to the E-CLASS line up. Sound funny but my point of view.;)

I agree the luxury verson looks much better now. I think you, as did I, hated that chrome strip at the bottom, that is gone now too. I think I'm going to like this one, especially when it see it in person next month.

Not a fan of the exterior at all. The grille shape is too rounded and the Star grille looks cheesy. The headlights look amorphous. The front airdam and flanking outlets look out of place. The interior is much better though.

I don't mind such a significant facelift but I do mind that it's robbed of any character. And that's one thing a M-B should not be: character-less.

Marcus, MB answered your wish and they've dropped and straightened the lower chrome strip to reduce the wedge, bum in the air effect that plagued the cars with small wheels and no sports pack.

Yes, I don't know who ever could have thought a piece of chrome that high up on the body was attractive. The car looks much better without it now. The chrome is at the bottom like should be.

I don't know boys... I think the silver one with the sport grille looks incredibly badass. Can't wait to see it in AMG trim. And normal grille with that deep brown color (what's the official name?)... Love it. The pre-facelift model looked a bit too angled as if it was trying too hard, but this feels natural, and looks like a proper Mercedes Benz. Bring it on.

That's Dolomit-Brown

If MBUSA doesn't offer the traditional grille for the US market I think they're going to upset a lot of boomers and others that think that the pig snout belongs on the coupes and cabriolets, NOT the sedans. My .02 on that.

Love that they have included the wagon so heavily in the press stuff.

Here's a thought, MB. Maybe instead of smashing the W220s headlights, tacking on some chintzy LEDs and calling it progress you could have instead updated the wheel designs. Those are from launch and here they are again!

The designers and management made a call to do what is best for the company and correct whatever mistakes they felt they have made in the past, time will tell if their decision is correct or not. You are focusing too much on the exterior styling of the car, yes given that it is the most dramatic and obvious change, the E-class has received some significant safety upgrades, so at least the 'management' got this right.
