Poor quality gasoline is what they keep saying. Quesiton is how does BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Porsche, VW and others offer direct-injection here with seemingly no problems?

MB have at least a thousand different versions of the 350 currently in production.

That's almost custom work: no two car has the same version...:D

350, 350 Sportmotor, 350 CGI, 350 "Atkinson" in the Hybrid... :t-crazy2:

That sport motor version should be in the C350 Sport here in the U.S. and with a manual option...yeah I know a manual wouldn't sell enough to justify the cost of developing it.

Then there is the 3.5L V6 in the European SL350....315hp.

I got a feeling that BMW also uses the old engines in the US. Low quality gasoline? Well, you can't expect much when it is almost for free :D

I don't know, all I do know is that BMW offers direct-injection and Mercedes does not. Audi, VW, Cadillac, and Porsche offer it too. Soon Buick will also. BMW's star non-M engine here in the U.S. is the 3L turbo, and it has DI. Everything VW and Audi sells with 4-cylinders and almost everything they sell with 6-cylinders has DI so I don't get what Mercedes is talking about.

At the very least the C350 Sport, and the new E350 Sedan/Coupe should have had the 300hp version from the SLK350. Especially anything that says "Sport", i.e. the E350 and C350s.

Then I don't know. If BMW offers it on some models they should do it on all if they don't already do.

There must be another reason if it is just MB that doesn't offer DI.

About time MB got serious about advertising. I always seen Lexus and BMW commercials, but never Mercedes-benz. Well except for christmas when all the Benzes are in black and a red SL with a Santa in the back talking about HO HO HO.

Funny, because I can't throw a stone in LA without hitting a MB ad - On TV, Print or Radio.

They are few and far between on the east coast (as far as TV ads). Now I always see them in print, but hardly ever on TV.

It's usualy 1 Benz commercial for every 10 BMW & Lexus commercial.

For some reason I see a lot of commercials for MB on fox and cnn...saw the E-Coupe commercial on CNN last night.
