What a gorgeous looking machine. For the first time in this forum non MB/neutral enthusiasts like this car so much and die hard fans are all against it. C'mon people this is concept, We have seen this with the GLA and it turned out to be a beautiful looking machine. Relax

I'm trying to do just that. All they need to do is tone down that nose.

M

I don't want to admit it,but the nose is horrible.
I do agree.
What the hell is going on with the three big Germans and their "new" noses...??

Yeah if they tone it down and make it flat. It doesn't need to actually lean forward, none of these do. They either lean back or are upright.

MB may just have forgotten to include the 1971 to 1981 SLC C107 in the pic, between the 111 and 126? :)

The SLC is commonly referred to as an 'SL coupe', but in reality it was an S-class coupe, replacing the former saloon-based 280/300 SE coupé in Mercedes lineup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_R107_and_C107

A tank of a Mercedes Wolfe.

Thanks for all your work today BTW.

Well... Apart from the exaggerated grill for concept purposes. I think the right word for that hot sexy coupe is not SHARK but SHARP.

I mean everything in that coupe is so damn sharp. The side lines, silhouette, greenhouse, front and rear. Literally everything is so sharp and so focused to make it look like a true hot GT that can go head to head with the Maserati .

Unlike the exterior, the interior has a more relaxed design with its smooth and curvy lines like its sedan brother to give it that comfy, luxurious and upscale look over its competitors.

Anyways, I just love it except for the nose of course which I'm confident it will be toned down a little bit in production form.
I just hope so... to make that S Coupe just perfect and complete.

Hi!
It´s been a long time since my last post...

1. I´m am glad, that MB got balls and offers a really new looking s-coupe.
2. Thats it.

The "new" design by merc with its ugly high noses comes to a new level: the extraordinary tapir nose. And what about the tail? They removed the lights and gave it to the new S, so far, so good. The new lights? New, but not Merc. The exhaust pipe section so so ugly, i even can´t even scoff...

The overall apperance is quite elegant, but the front design is very agressive. Absolutely not what is in mind of a "CL" driver.
Maybe thats what visitors of the IAA make say: oh wow, i as an potentional buyer will say: oh no!

Let´s go back to point 1:
I´m really satisfied with the complete new look, but not with the emotional result. I have to admit, it´s quite a lot BMW in it, maybe that´s whats pisses me off: I want a Merc thats looks like one. The actual CL is not very known by the people, but everyone identifies it as MB, there is no chance to be mistaken for another brand.

OK, dislikes, i want dislikes!

If you were wondering if the Concept S-Class Coupe might lose some of its sexiness in real life compared to what it looks like in the manipulated press photos, you should probably be rest assured. The car is drop-dead gorgeous in the flesh as well.

Powered by the twin-turbocharged 4.7-liter V8 with 455 hp and 700 Nm (512 lb ft) – the one that can be found in its recently launched sedan brother, the W222 S-Class - the concept is not exactly the most powerful luxury coupe Mercedes-Benz could have unveiled, especially since the new V12 is yet to debut in the S-Class sedan as well.

Still, the engine choice and the fact that the two rear seats look to be quite a bit on the unusable side can be easily left aside just by taking a long look at the Concept S-Class Coupe's design.

It has enough technology to put the USS Enterprise to shame, but its style is the main motive to completely adore it. Let's not forget that the production version of the model – expected somewhere around or at the 2014 North American Auto Show – should preserve at least 90% of the design details. Meanwhile, let's just drool at the concept.

A bit mixed feeling.... but I like it overall.
It's true, there's a Renault Laguna familiarity on the rear, but the Laguna it's a very nice coupe after all, so no big deal.
I love the side profile, the sexy looooong hood, but I just wished the front doesn't remind me the CLA so much, as they're the opposite poles in the spectrum of Mercedes.

Still the final judgment will be once we see the production version and how much of the concept's design language arrives into the final product.

WOW. Live pics look even better to me.

I hope the interior keeps a few futuristic touches and remains as spectacular with all black leather and aluminium (MB please, these design deserves to have a lost of metalic touches on the inside).

All they have to do is tone down the nose and this is a winner. A 1-2 punch at the top of their range. CLA and GLA will take care of the sales at the bottom. Now bring on the C-Class please, uh...Detroit.

According to those in the know. First official pictures in December and Premiere at the NAIAS.
Oh and the interior is more S-Klasse than sci-fi minimalism.

Am I the only one who doesn't feel moved by this car?

There is something about this car that the pictures do not show. In reality the lines actually do something rather than have them appear on the body because they have no idea how to add purposeful definition.

Geneva.

I wonder if those little clocks will stay on the production model. I find them a nice touch on that area, which is used to hide the cup holders most of the times.
